Mark Consuelos proudly follows where the Gilmore Girls lead. During an interview with Melissa McCarthy on Live With Kelly and Mark, Consuelos, 52, shared a surprising revelation. He admitted that he had never seen the show until a rainy day in August when his teenage nieces visited and took control of the TV remote.
Consuelos was initially annoyed about having to watch the seven-season series, but soon became completely engrossed. "By the third episode, I was hooked," he exclaimed, with his wife Kelly Ripa adding that he even cried at certain parts. He went on to say, "I find myself thinking about Lorelai all the time. And [Sookie's] produce, you're very particular about your produce!"
Gilmore Girls, led by Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino, first aired from 2000 to 2007 on The WB (and The CW for its final season). The show followed single mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) as she raised her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) in the charming town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. McCarthy, 53, played Lorelai’s close friend and business partner, Sookie St. James. (Sookie was the chef at the inn they co-owned, often clashing with produce supplier and eventual husband Jackson Belleville over vegetable quality.)
The main cast of ‘Gilmore Girls’ included Yanic Truesdale as Michel Gerard, Liz Torres as Miss Patty, Kelly Bishop as Emily Gilmore, Edward Herrmann as Richard Gilmore, Melissa McCarthy as Sookie St. James, Scott Patterson as Luke Danes, Keiko Agena as Lane Kim, Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore, and Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore. The show later had a limited revival called A Year in the Life in November 2016, where the major cast reunited for a Netflix special. Despite the revival dropping on the streaming platform, many fans still enjoy rewatching the show. Consuelos even started a group chat with his nieces to discuss their favorite moments from ‘Gilmore Girls.’ Warner Bros./Delivered by Online USA
Ripa, 53, mentioned that he was now part of a group chat with my nieces, named "The Gilmore Girlers", consisting of just the three of them. Consuelos commented that the show "just catches you." McCarthy, who was there to promote the new Peacock movie Genie, expressed her love for the fact that the show is still so beloved among fans like Consuelos.

"That show was my first steady job, and I remember thinking to myself, 'If I haven't found work by the time I turn 30, I'll focus on production instead.' I enjoyed both sides of the industry and didn't want to have to keep asking my parents for money. Then, just before my 30th birthday, I landed Gilmore Girls, which was a game-changer.
I believe people feel a special connection to that show because it portrayed a mother and daughter as close friends rather than constantly fighting, which was refreshing."
