Sean Kingston and his mother facing legal trouble following SWAT raid at rapper's residence

Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother are in legal trouble after being arrested on fraud and theft charges when a SWAT team raided the musician's South Florida mansion early Thursday morning.

Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother have been arrested on fraud and theft charges. The arrests came after a SWAT team raided the star’s South Florida residence Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Arrest and search warrants were served at a home in Southwest Ranches, a town about 15 miles from Fort Lauderdale, by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Following the raid, the singer’s mother, Janice Turner, was taken into custody. Kingston himself was arrested Thursday evening in Fort Irwin, California, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office announced that both individuals are facing multiple fraud and theft charges. However, no specific information was given regarding the charges or the ongoing investigation.

Kingston took to Instagram on Thursday evening to address the situation, stating, “It seems like people are drawn to negativity! I want to assure everyone that my mother and I are doing well. Our legal team is currently handling the situation.”

We reached out to Kingston's publicist for comment, but have not been able to locate an attorney representing the singer.

Court documents filed in February reveal that the home raided on Thursday is listed as Kingston's residence in a breach of contract lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment, a company specializing in high-end television and sound systems.

It is not clear if the lawsuit is related to the ongoing investigation by the Broward County Sheriff's Office, which started in Dania Beach.

Ver Ver Entertainment claims that Kingston contacted them in September 2023 to buy a 232-inch TV and sound system. According to the lawsuit, Kingston agreed to create promotional videos with singer Justin Bieber for the company in return for a reduced down payment on the entertainment system.

Kingston paid a $30,000 down payment and had the entertainment system installed as stated in the lawsuit. However, Kingston failed to make the rest of the payments for the TV or fulfill the agreement to promote the company alongside Bieber.

According to the lawsuit, Kingston and Bieber worked together in 2010 on the popular song "Eenie Meenie." The rapper mentioned to Ver Ver last year that he and Bieber still maintain a "current and ongoing working relationship."

The lawsuit claims that Kingston did not have a continuous working relationship with Bieber and that the singer had no plans to create promotional content with him for Ver Ver.

Ver Ver tried multiple times to collect the outstanding payments from Kingston, but these attempts were unsuccessful, as mentioned in the lawsuit. The invoice included in the lawsuit valued the entertainment system and its installation at over $110,000.

Dennis Card, a lawyer for Ver Ver, claims that Kingston and his mother collaborate to acquire costly items.

"He gives the impression that he's a rich, big-spending individual," Card mentioned to CNN.

Kingston's career took off in 2007 with the smash hit "Beautiful Girls," which went platinum. His collaboration with Bieber on "Eenie Meenie" helped him soar even higher in the world of pop music. Despite releasing several singles and his album "Back 2 Life" in the 2010s, Kingston kept a low profile until his fourth album, "Road to Deliverance," came out in 2022.

Editor's P/S:

The arrests of rapper Sean Kingston and his mother on fraud and theft charges have sent shockwaves through the music industry. While Kingston has remained tight-lipped about the allegations, the ongoing investigation sheds light on his past financial dealings. The lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment paints a picture of an individual who allegedly used his celebrity status to acquire expensive items without fulfilling his obligations.

It is important to note that Kingston and his mother are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the charges against them raise serious questions about their business practices. The allegations of collaboration between Kingston and his mother to acquire costly items without paying suggest a pattern of deceptive behavior. The lawsuit also highlights the potential pitfalls of trusting celebrities based on their public persona, as Kingston's past success may have given him an air of credibility that he allegedly exploited. The outcome of the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings will shed more light on the extent of the alleged fraud and theft, and the consequences for Kingston and his mother.
