Fulham have initiated communication with Manchester United regarding the terms of a potential agreement for midfielder Scott McTominay while Bayern Munich intensify their efforts to secure the signing of Joao Palhinha. Fulham is diligently exploring various alternatives in the event that Palhinha, the Portuguese international, departs for Bayern.

The Bundesliga champions aim to secure the 28-year-old's signature prior to their transfer window's closure at 5pm UK time on Friday. Fulham has assessed Palhinha's value to be as high as £80m, considering they acquired him for £20m from Sporting Lisbon last year. His contract duration extends to four years, with a potential additional 12 months through an option.

The Cottagers are actively seeking a successor as Bayern's interest in Palhinha grows. United midfielder McTominay has now become a target before the Friday deadline. West Ham's £30m bid for the Scotland international was previously rejected by Erik ten Hag's side, indicating that a substantial offer would be necessary for them to entertain a sale.

The 26-year-old has made two substitute appearances for United this season in the home wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Man Utd close to Reguilon loan | Deal opens door for Amrabat

Manchester United is on the verge of finalizing a deal with Tottenham for the acquisition of defender Sergio Reguilon. Reguilon has been authorized to journey to Manchester and undergo a medical examination prior to Friday's 11pm cutoff.

United are pursuing a loan deal for the Spaniard in their search for a left-back, prompted by injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. While discussions with Chelsea regarding Marc Cucurella were ongoing, it is believed that pursuing a deal for Reguilon, along with the associated figures, presents United with the optimal opportunity to secure a deal with Fiorentina for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

United are continuing to work on a deal to sign Amrabat.

Fiorentina prefer a permanent deal, while United are conscious of complying with FFP rules and are exploring a loan.

The Serie A club might consider accepting a loan with an option that would lead to an obligation, depending on the loan fee and permanent price. It is evident that the 27-year-old has a desire to join United and has refrained from training with the Fiorentina first-team squad as his future remains uncertain.

Silva admits Fulham success will lead to interest amid Palhinha links

Fulham manager Marco Silva acknowledged that it is unavoidable for larger clubs to express interest in their players after the team's successful campaign last season. However, he refused to comment on speculations regarding Palhinha's potential move to Bayern.

Palhinha, the player who scored a late equaliser in the draw against Arsenal last weekend, participated in Thursday morning's training session with the team. They are preparing for their upcoming match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Silva mentioned that the club has certain players in mind as potential replacements. However, he refrained from disclosing any names and did not provide details about Palhinha's future. He did suggest that the final decision would be a result of a combined evaluation considering both financial and technical factors.

"I have no comments regarding Joao's situation, as there are no new updates to provide," he stated.

"The management of the football club is handling the business aspect, and they are fulfilling their responsibilities. As for me, I am focused on my job of serving the football club. Anything could transpire within the next 36 hours."

We have had an excellent season, and as expected, we have received numerous offers for our players. It is likely that this club has never received such a high volume of offers, particularly those of significant value. This demonstrates the recognition for our exceptional performance and what we have achieved.

Now, it is our responsibility to assess the financial aspects and make the necessary decisions. From a technical standpoint, it will be up to me to determine whether I obtain the club's approval.

Not mentioning players from other clubs is pointless. If we lose someone like Joao or another crucial player, it is imperative to have a ready replacement to support us, especially when there are only two days left in the transfer window.

I have mentioned before that it's challenging to replace a striker like (Aleksandar) Mitrovic, who we sold to Al Hilal. As part of my job, I am responsible for finding solutions in case the club decides to sell any player from our team.

We successfully managed to sell a player whose number on the team was nine, and it was not a simple task to enter the market for this specific position. However, I want to assure our loyal supporters that we will pursue potential signings if I believe they can truly enhance our team and contribute positively to our club and squad.

We are not inclined to sign players purely for the sake of increasing our numbers, even in situations where we may have a shortage of players, as we do currently.
