Fulham have completed the signing of Raul Jimenez from Wolves for a reported fee of £5.5m. The striker has agreed to a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025, with the option for an additional 12-month extension.
Jimenez expressed his enthusiasm for his arrival at Fulham and his commitment to giving his best for the team, which he considers as one of the most iconic in the Premier League.
"I am delighted to be present in this stadium and have the opportunity to play here. It is an exceptional stadium that I genuinely admire. I am fully committed to delivering my utmost effort to continue scoring goals in the Premier League."
Jimenez had one more year remaining on his contract with Wolves and dedicated five successful seasons to the club. His journey began in 2018 on a loan from Benfica before he secured a permanent contract the subsequent year.
The Mexican player netted a total of 44 goals during his initial two seasons at the club until he unfortunately suffered a fractured skull during an away match against Arsenal in November 2020. Since that incident, he has managed to score only 15 goals, bringing his overall tally to 57 goals across 166 appearances before departing from the club.
Jimenez arrival to allow for Mitrovic departure?
Fulham and their leading goalscorer from the previous season have fallen out following Al Hilal's interest in striker Aleksandr Mitrovic. Reluctantly, he joined the team on their flight to the USA for pre-season.
Mitrovic made it clear to his relatives that he refuses to play for Fulham anymore due to the exorbitant price of £52m placed on him by the decision-makers.
Despite initially contemplating skipping the club tour of America, Mitrovic was persuaded by his agent Pini Zahavi and representatives of the PFA to accompany the squad as they embarked on their journey to the United States on Thursday.
Mitrovic's frustration is evident as he feels excluded from the transfer due to Al Hilal's unsuccessful attempts with two bids. With hopes of an improved situation, his agent suggests to Tony Khan to reconsider his valuation, proposing a range of £35m to £45m.
Silva turns down £40m Al Ahli offer
Marco Silva has turned down an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli and insisted he retains "total commitment" to Fulham.
The club's new manager was offered a £40m, two-year deal to the Portuguese.
Silva confirmed during his press conference, ahead of Sunday's Premier League Summer Series match against Brentford, that he had informed his current employers of his decision. However, he did not disclose that he had rejected Al Ahli.
"I have already addressed this matter on behalf of my club and I will refrain from discussing it any further," he expressed. "Engaging in conversations concerning offers and the current situation was not my purpose in being present here.
"As I stated previously, I have no inclination to engage in lengthy discussions on this matter. I have consistently demonstrated my unwavering dedication to this football club. My allegiance remains steadfast."
