The reality TV shows Below Deck and its spinoff series have real-life implications for the crew members, whether they are on or off the ship. Numerous stars such as Hannah Ferrier, Peter Hunziker, and Shane Coopersmith have been dismissed from their respective charters for various reasons throughout the years.
Hannah from Below Deck Mediterranean was fired in season 5 of the series in 2020 for being found in possession of Valium onboard. Bravo terminated Peter two months earlier when he made racially offensive remarks during the Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020.
In contrast, Shane from Below Deck was let go during season 8 due to his underwhelming performance on the yacht.
"Regrettably, the moment has arrived for us to part ways," Captain Lee Rosbach informed the deckhand in a December 2020 episode. "You simply haven't met the expectations I had for you."
Shane was taken aback by his dismissal, expressing to the cameras, "I feel a sense of emptiness, as if a vacuum has completely absorbed everything within me. Despite giving everything I believed I was capable of, it proved insufficient."

Tom Pearson
The deckhand was dismissed from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 in April 2022 after receiving multiple strikes from Captain Glenn Shephard. Tom failed to promptly alert senior crew members when Parsifal III's anchor dragged, jeopardizing the safety of the passengers.
Following a warning from Glenn, Tom was observed engaging in gossip and idling instead of fulfilling his duties, which resulted in his termination. "To prevent a recurrence, it's preferable to be short-staffed," the captain stated in a confessional. "He's not meeting my expectations nor making the most of the limited opportunities given."
Tom, on his part, admitted that he had not been acting like his usual self during that period. He clarified that his personal life had begun to significantly impact his performance on the ship. (Before the incident with the anchor, Tom received news that his best friend's father was in critical condition, fighting for his life.)

Lexi Wilson
The second stew was sent home after several disputes with the crew during their nights out in season 6. Following a heated confrontation with Mathew Shea, where Lexi made a derogatory comment about his parents, Captain Sandy intervened and dismissed her. In September 2021, Sandy revealed to We magazine that she had decided to release Lexi after witnessing the ongoing drama on the show.
"No one provided me with any factual information. I was completely uninformed, only hearing vague statements about how bad the situation was. That's simply insufficient for me. I requested a written report, urging them to send it to me," she clarified to Us during that time. "Once they step onto this boat, they are educated about all the legal requirements. However, I was never given that crucial information. If they had informed me of the facts, I would have allowed her to leave earlier, but unfortunately, I was never informed."

Elizabeth Frankini
The crew member from Below Deck, who appeared in season 8, was unexpectedly removed from the team during an episode in February 2021. Francesca Rubi, the crew's superior, pointed out Elizabeth's insufficient work ethic as the reason for her dismissal from the charter. Francesca expressed her disappointment by stating, "Throughout each charter, I have consistently given my all and made efforts to assist and monitor your performance. We have had numerous discussions about this matter, yet your decision to sleep in the guest cabin was, in my opinion, the final straw."
Elizabeth took to Twitter to address the recent episode, expressing her thoughts on the challenges she faced while being filmed. She candidly acknowledged that it has been tough to witness her mistakes play out for millions of viewers, particularly when there is a wealth of behind-the-scenes moments that don't make it to the final cut. Despite the difficulties, Elizabeth recognized the value of this experience as a learning opportunity.
