Discussing her journey to motherhood, Kate Chastain has openly shared the challenges that come with expecting her first child. In December 2022, the former Below Deck star confirmed her pregnancy. While she provided some glimpses into her pregnancy, she revealed that she was withholding certain details, particularly the sex of her baby, during an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.
The former chief stewardess expressed feeling "great" after undergoing a significant life transformation. During an interview with E! News in December 2022, she jokingly mentioned that adjusting to the change would be challenging due to her love for sleeping in and her tendency to be lazy and selfish. However, she believed that if she loved her child as much as she loved her dog, everything would be fine, especially with the reassurances from others.
Previously, the TV personality had a romantic relationship with Ben Robinson, a fellow cast member on Below Deck, and was later romantically linked to athlete Ro Hernandez. Throughout her pregnancy, Chastain chose to keep her personal life private. In May 2023, she confirmed the birth of her son, Sullivan.

Sharing the news of her pregnancy proved to be a challenge for the Bravo star. She revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the hardest part was attending BravoCon at week 11 and a half, when traditionally, it is advised to wait until week 12. Despite being surrounded by partying and drinks during the October 2022 event, she had to come up with excuses to abstain from alcohol. Feeling like her honesty was being questioned, she eventually resorted to isolating herself in her hotel room to avoid suspicion.

Chastain expressed her joy at the incredible occurrence, but she wishes to be cautious about sharing specific details. She believes that being a responsible mother means understanding that this information does not solely belong to her. She recognizes that her future child will have access to the internet and be able to search for information, so she believes it would be unfair to reveal everything.

"Sullivan's been with me for three months now, and I think I've finally found my rhythm. I'm genuinely enjoying this new chapter in my life. It's something I love wholeheartedly, but I can't help but be taken aback by the amount of work it entails. Considering my reputation for hard work on Below Deck, that says a lot. Nevertheless, it's a labor of love," exclusively shared Chastain with Us. "Surprisingly, the postpartum period wasn't as overwhelming for me, simply because my focus was entirely on my baby. I consider myself lucky in that regard, as I'm completely enamored with him."
She continued, "Many of my family and friends advised me before I had Sullivan, saying, 'It's alright if you don't immediately like him. Don't feel guilty about it.' And I couldn't help but wonder if their own children were aware of this advice they were giving me. So I consider myself very fortunate that I have been in love with him from the very beginning."
Chastain shared her joy in witnessing her baby boy's milestones, stating, "It's truly heartwarming when all the effort you put in results in a little smile or a cute giggle. It's just so lovely. They grow and develop so quickly at this age that every day brings something new, which is how they win you over. There's a lot of work involved, but each day brings a new surprise. It's a clever way they keep you enamored with them."
