Savannah Chrisley is confident that her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, will be released from prison soon.
"I'm excited for our appeal on April 19," said Savannah, 26, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight posted on Thursday, March 14. She added, "Hopefully, they will be back home, maybe by later this summer."
Ever since Savannah's parents went to prison in 2023, she has been taking care of her two younger siblings, Grayson, 17, and Chloe, 11. Alongside this, she has been using social media to speak up for her parents.
Savannah shared, "It's a lot to handle. Looking after a 17-year-old and an 11-year-old is like a full-time job. On top of that, I have to work to support them and also fight tirelessly with lawyers to bring my parents back home."
She expressed her desire to attend law school like Kim Kardashian to advocate for those in need, if her parents return home soon.
"I have told Grayson that I would do it if my mom comes home," she shared. "So, if my mom comes home, it would be her and Chloe. If both my parents come home, I would definitely go back to school and pursue a career as a lawyer. It's never too late to chase your dreams. If I could become a lawyer by the time I'm 30 or 32, I might just go for it."
Todd, 54, and Julie, 51, were charged with tax evasion, bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy in 2019. They were found guilty after a lengthy trial in June 2022. Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Julie received a seven-year sentence. Despite this, the couple continues to claim their innocence.
In January 2023, Todd reported to FPC Pensacola in Florida for his 10-year sentence, a minimum security facility. Meanwhile, Julie began serving her 5-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Both of their sentences were reduced in 2023.
Todd expressed his optimism during a prerecorded episode of the "Chrisley Confessions" podcast in January. He mentioned that he believes this current situation is not his final destination, showing faith in the judicial system to turn things around.
Savannah's passion for advocacy ignited after witnessing her parents' incarceration. Speaking on her "Unlocked" podcast in November 2022, she questioned the failings of the system that tear families apart. She highlighted the injustice of lenient treatment for serious offenders compared to the harsh consequences faced by others.
She continued by explaining that the situation boils down to being constantly observed by the public and someone attempting to make a statement. She expressed her sadness about the situation. Despite feeling desensitized to it, she admitted that her numbness has transformed into anger. She emphasized that giving up is not an option for her.
