Octavia Spencer expressed her heartfelt condolences to her friend and former costar, Sandra Bullock, in the wake of Bryan Randall's passing. Sharing a photo of the couple on Instagram, Spencer, aged 53, conveyed her sorrow, stating that Sandy had lost her soulmate, and the world had lost a remarkable, attractive, and genuinely kind man. She extended her prayers and sympathies to their families, concluding with, "Rest in peace, Bryan Randall."
Spencer, who starred with Bullock in the movies A Time to Kill and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, concluded her post on a more optimistic note. She mentioned that in heaven, there is a lady who bears a striking resemblance to her and bossing around the angels, especially Gabriel. This heavenly lady would play any song you want to hear. Spencer sent her regards to this lady and expressed her belief that they are soulmates. She also addressed the recent loss right after Bullock's sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, shared her heartfelt tribute to the late photographer. Bullock-Prado posted a photo of Randall on Instagram, along with a caption stating that she believes he has found the perfect fishing spot in heaven, where he can catch salmon in rushing rivers.
She continued: "ALS is a merciless illness, but it brings some solace to know that my incredible sister and the team of nurses she gathered provided him with the utmost care in their home. May Bryan rest in peace."
On Monday, it was reported that Randall had passed away at 57 after fighting ALS for three years. "Bryan made the decision early on to keep his battle with ALS private, and we, the caregivers, did our utmost to respect his wishes," his family declared in a statement.
Randall’s family expressed profound gratitude towards the dedicated physicians who guided us through the challenges of this ailment, and to the exceptional nurses who not only provided exceptional care but also became our roommates, frequently putting aside their own family obligations to be there for ours.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ALS Association and the Massachusetts General Hospital in memory of Randall. The statement concluded by asking for privacy during this time of mourning and accepting the challenging reality of bidding farewell to Bryan.
In August 2015, Bullock's relationship with Randall was officially confirmed. Together, they have been raising Bullock's two children, Louis and Laila, whom she adopted in 2010 and 2015. However, a source revealed to Us in November 2020 that there was no pressure for the couple to get married. The source emphasized that they both recognized their luck in having each other and believed that happiness did not depend on a legal document or formal ceremony.
Days before Randall’s death, a separate source revealed that the duo took some time apart last year.
