Rose Hanbury is ready to take legal action to stop rumors about her having an affair with Prince William. In Touch magazine reported that Hanbury's lawyers sent a legal notice to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. This happened after Colbert made jokes about the rumors of her being unfaithful to William in 2019. He also connected the alleged affair to speculation about Princess Kate Middleton's location as she heals from surgery.
Hanbury's lawyers stated that the rumor has gained traction in mainstream media after being joked about on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They have taken action by reaching out to CBS and other reputable media outlets to clarify that the allegation is untrue.
Colbert revisited the controversy on his show on March 12.

"People online are speculating that Kate's absence could be linked to rumors of her husband, William, possibly having an affair," he mentioned. "Many believe that the alleged other woman is The Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Rumors of William's involvement with [Rose] have been circulating since 2019. Reports claim that when Kate confronted him back then, he simply laughed it off, dismissing the allegations. Quite a response when your spouse accuses you of infidelity."
The host pointed out that Hanbury is a longtime friend of the royal family and is married to David Rocksavage, who is a close friend of William's.

He joked, "Really? Rocksavage? That sounds less like a British noble and more like a musician from the Flintstones."
Hanbury’s lawyers had previously denied any affair between her and William in a statement to Business Insider earlier this month. When rumors first started circulating, the pair chose not to address them.
Kate was deeply hurt by hurtful rumors, as shared by a source in 2019. The idea that her children might one day come across these rumors online was something she despised. This situation prompted both her and William to reflect on their relationship more frequently.
William and Kate, who got married in 2011, have three children together: Prince George, who is 10 years old, Princess Charlotte, who is 8 years old, and Prince Louis, who is 5 years old.
