A creative Baldur's Gate 3 fan has elevated the concept of playing as a Bard by forming an in-game band. This impressive display of imagination showcases the vast role-playing possibilities within Baldur's Gate 3.
Larian Studios' newest RPG offers players the option to select from 12 unique classes for their characters. Each class provides diverse gameplay experiences, ranging from combat styles to the ability to succeed in different skill checks. For those who prefer not to limit themselves to a single character archetype, Baldur's Gate 3 also offers the option of multiclassing, allowing for even more varied and distinctive character builds.
Many players in Baldur's Gate 3 multiclass to enhance their combat abilities. However, this also opens up opportunities for fun and creative activities. One player, SonaKopa, decided to form an in-game band by making their entire party level one Bards. They assigned different musical instruments to each character - Lae'zel with a drum, Astarion with a violin, Shadowheart with a harp, and their own character with a flute. They then had them all perform the Bard Dance, a song that can be played using the Perform class action.
SonaKopa's gameplay footage showcased the remarkable synchronization of the Bards when playing the same song. This resulted in a harmonious performance, replacing the current in-game track. Even during cutscenes not initiated by the performers, the Bard's melody continued to play. Since Perform is a free class action, players with a Bard in their party always have the option of choosing their own battle soundtrack.
Players who prefer not to multiclass their party members as Bards but still want to form an in-game band can achieve the same outcome by selecting the Performer feat for their characters. This feat grants musical instrument proficiency and increases their Charisma score by one point. In Baldur's Gate 3, new feats are obtainable every four levels.
Playing a Bard in Baldur's Gate 3 offers more than just the opportunity to start a traveling band in-game. This lively class allows players to easily succeed at Charisma checks and offers a wide range of beneficial support skills, including some of the most potent combat buffs and debuffs in the entire game.
Baldur's Gate 3 is out now for PC. A PS5 version releases on September 6, and an Xbox Series X/S version is expected to launch in late 2023.
