Riley Keough is embracing the cold-weather season with a moody new look.
On Thursday, November 3, prior to the Virginia Film Festival, the 34-year-old actress revealed her newly dyed jet-black hair on Instagram. Keough shared a selfie showcasing her midnight hue, which beautifully complements her blue eyes. Keough attended the Virginia Film Festival to promote her latest film, War Pony. The movie, which tells the coming-of-age tales of two young Oglala Lakota men on the Pine Ridge Reservation, marks Keough's first venture as a director and premiered in July.
Keough's hair underwent a stunning transformation following her extended period of sporting vibrant red locks. In the Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six, she boldly embraced a fresh variation of her celebrated crimson mane.
In March, MaryAnn Hennings, the head of the show's hair department, spoke exclusively to We about Keough's hair and how it played a role in telling the story of Daisy Jones, the lead singer of the up-and-coming band.
Hennings decided to maintain Daisy's hair color consistently with Keough to convey an unapologetic attitude. The chosen color was a vibrant and stunning shade of red, which symbolized Daisy's rebellious nature in a subtle yet powerful way. Despite initially portraying a rough character, Hennings opted for ginger hair instead of punky black, as it allowed for a smooth transition from an innocent young girl to a rock star persona. The long, red curls added to the character's transformation and contributed to an iconic appearance.
Hennings disclosed to Us that rock legend Stevie Nicks inspired the shade and effortlessly tousled hairstyle. To achieve Keough's look at home, use Clairol Natural Instincts Bold in the Copper shade. It's worth noting that Daisy Jones & The Six is not the only instance where Keough experimented with color.
Keough gained attention for her trendy "bronde" hair in the 2020 movie Zola. The film depicts the journey of Zola, a part-time stripper (played by Taylour Paige), who is persuaded by her newfound friend Stefani (played by Keough) to embark on a chaotic road trip to Tampa in order to make money.
Based on A’Ziah King's viral Twitter thread from October 2015, the film takes inspiration from her captivating tale of an unforgettable trip to Florida. The thread begins with the line, "Would you like to hear a story about why this girl and I had a falling-out? It's a bit lengthy but filled with suspense."
In addition to Keough and Paige, the film also stars Nicholas Braun and Colman Domingo.
