Riley Keough announced via Instagram on January 11th that she is proud to be releasing her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley's memoir posthumously. The autobiography is set to be released in October and is available for pre-order from @randomhouse.
Keough’s announcement follows the tragic death of her mother nearly one year ago. Lisa Marie, the daughter of the late Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, passed away at the age of 54 on January 12, 2023 due to a small bowel obstruction. She had begun writing her memoir prior to her passing, and it is set to be published on Tuesday, October 15.
“Lisa Marie Presley, born into an American legend and raised in the untamed grounds of Graceland, has long been a misunderstood figure... until now,” states the official synopsis of the book. “Prior to her passing in 2023, she had dedicated years to crafting a candid, captivating, and completely unique memoir, documenting countless hours of exquisitely vulnerable recordings, which have now been transcribed onto the pages with the help of her daughter Riley Keough.”

In a statement on Thursday, Keough explained that she chose to release the memoir because she wanted more people to have the opportunity to truly know who her mom was, according to the Associated Press.
"I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to work on her autobiography. Although bittersweet, it has been a privilege to prepare it for publication," stated Keough. "I am thrilled to present my mom in her most vulnerable and honest state, and I hope that readers will come to love her as much as I do."
Lisa Marie is survived by her daughter Riley, her mother Priscilla, who is 78, and her twin daughters, Finley and Harper, who are 15 years old. She had Riley and her late son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide at the age of 27 in 2020, with her ex-husband Danny Keough. She shared Finley and Harper with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood.
Riley was appointed as the exclusive trustee of Lisa Marie’s estate in May 2023 after a legal dispute with Priscilla, who had submitted a challenge to her daughter’s will. Finley and Harper were appointed as co-trustees while Priscilla received a $1 million lump sum payment, as confirmed at the time.

After Lisa Marie's passing, the family came together to build a stronger bond. According to a source who spoke to We in September 2023, Riley has stepped into a "motherly role" with her younger sisters. (Riley and her husband Ben Smith-Petersen welcomed daughter Tupelo Storm in 2020 via surrogate.)
The twins have been spending a significant amount of time with Riley and Priscilla on the weekends. According to an insider, the close relationship between them has intensified since Lisa Marie's passing, prompting their father Michael to take full-time care of the twins during a challenging adjustment period.
