Battlefield 2042's sixth season, Dark Creations, has arrived, bringing a spooky twist to the futuristic theme. Season 6 is currently the most recent confirmed batch of content for Battlefield 2042.

Originally met with mixed reviews in 2021, Battlefield 2042 from DICE and EA has experienced a revival in popularity due to its numerous post-launch seasons of content. Each season introduces fresh battle maps, weapons, game modes, and improvements to gameplay and overall experience. Season 6, which became available at 12:00 UTC on October 10 (following the earlier Update 6.0.0 by four hours), continues this trend by offering a similar level of exciting content. Notably, Season 6 aligns with the Halloween season and arrives close to Battlefield 2042's two-year anniversary next month.

Season 6 of Battlefield 2042 brings an exciting continuation of the Battle Pass, featuring over 100 reward tiers. Alongside the usual array of cosmetic skins for playable characters, vehicles, and weapons, players can expect new additions to enhance their gaming experience. The Premium version of the Battle Pass will grant access to additional content, which can also be downloaded separately. Additionally, the introduction of the Battle Pass Ultimate Pack offers exclusive cosmetics and the ability to skip over 20 reward tiers. The developers have also implemented various quality-of-life improvements to enhance gameplay for all players. Fans can anticipate an enjoyable season, and it will be intriguing to observe how these new features impact the game's online meta. It is also worth considering the possibility of future post-release content, which may incorporate ties to different holidays.

Here is an overview of the new content, alongside highlights for changes and improvements:

New Map: Redacted

Drawing inspiration from beloved maps of Battlefield's earlier installments, such as Operation Locker (Battlefield™ 4) and Operation Metro (Battlefield™ 3), this intense and tightly confined battlefield is set amidst the captivating landscapes of the Scottish Hebrides. Unveiling a concealed technological research center, which conducts classified experiments, the map is designed to offer an immersive experience with its thrilling close-quarters combat.

To explore the creative processes behind Redacted, check out our recent Dev Notes and stay tuned for an upcoming episode of the Inside Battlefield Podcast, where we delve deeper into the topic! Don't miss out on the insights shared at the Boreas Laboratory.

Once you've exited the laboratory, the Field Testing area awaits, showcasing small, improvised houses that offer concealment and reveal more clues about the events that unfolded in this facility. The eerie lighting and ambiance are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine, so it’s crucial to remain alert. Be mindful of the jutting rocks that present numerous opportunities for you and your adversary to outmaneuver each other.

If you ever need a break from the intense battles happening near the flags and crave a peaceful moment, the maintenance tunnels are there to provide just that. These dimly lit tunnels not only allow for strategic flanking and quick access to any flag, but it's important to stay alert as your opponent might have the same plan.

This update is designed to enhance the aiming experience and aim assist for controller peripherals, offering a wide range of customization options.

Our aim with aim assist in Battlefield is to ensure that controller aim is more precise, while still maintaining the difficulty and skill needed for aiming in a First-Person Shooter. Aim assist is not only focused on assisting with aiming but also on fine-tuning and personalizing the input to suit your preferences.

Vehicle Handling Improvements were a major focus in Update 6.0, aiming to enhance the mobility and interaction of Ground Vehicles in relation to the overall gameplay pace of Battlefield 2042.

Rao's Cyberwarfare Suite will now activate all damage states on targeted vehicles and will no longer prevent firing on vehicles. Moreover, Rao will no longer expose players near an enemy he has recently hacked and eliminated. Instead, when hacking a target, Rao will now expose enemies in the target's vicinity. This exposure will unveil all details within that area, including enemy soldiers, vehicles, and gadgets within a 10-meter range of the hacked target for a short duration.

Subsonic Ammo & Suppressors

The first update is a minor design change regarding Subsonic Ammo, and how it works in combination with Suppressors.

Previously:

Heavy Silencers = No self-spotting on minimap at any distance

Update 6.0:

Light Silencer = No self-spotting over 40 meters

Light Silencer + Subsonic = No self-spotting over 20 meters

Heavy Silencer = No self-spotting over 20 meters

Based on Community Feedback, we have discovered an issue with the crosshair of certain weapons deviating excessively from the center of the screen. This inconsistency made it challenging to control recoil, especially during quick bursts with high recoil weapons. To address this problem and enhance the overall gunplay experience, we have conducted a comprehensive review and made improvements to every weapon in All-Out Warfare.

LMG Balance Update

In the recent Update 5.2 release, we made several adjustments to the Vault LMGs Attachments, recoil, and other statistics. Additionally, we made a dispersion change to align them more closely with Assault Rifles and the rest of the roster.

DMRs have been slightly adjusted in this update, although not to a great extent. Rather than implementing major nerfs or buffs across the board, the aim was to reevaluate the performance of these weapons and ensure they are functioning as intended. Refer to the changelog provided below for a more comprehensive overview of the specific changes included in this update.

Boris will now prioritize maintaining the uptime of his Sentry Turret to maximize its damage output. Meanwhile, Crawford will gain a new Specialist Trait called Deep Pockets, granting an additional rocket for shoulder-fired launchers.

We will carefully consider feedback from Engineers regarding these changes, as well as other topics mentioned above, once the alterations are implemented.

Enhanced visual and audio feedback has been implemented for vehicles compromised by Rao's Cyberwarfare Suite.

Rather than disclosing the presence of players in the vicinity of an enemy he has just hacked and eliminated, Rao will now expose adversaries within the target's surroundings upon successful hacking. This will uncover comprehensive intelligence within a 10-meter range of the hacked target, encompassing enemy soldiers, vehicles, and gadgets, albeit for a very short duration.
