Blizzard's Aaron Keller has hinted at more details regarding the upcoming hero and Flashpoint game mode in Overwatch 2's Season 6. While Season 5 may feel like a filler season with its lack of new maps, game modes, and heroes, Season 6 is set to bring significant upgrades with the introduction of a new game mode, hero, and more.
Blizzard is currently keeping the new Overwatch 2 hero under wraps, but there have been some intriguing hints about what to expect. Just recently, Keller unveiled a captivating piece of artwork that offers a glimpse into the background of the upcoming Support hero. The mesmerizing image showcases the hero standing at the center of an enigmatic contraption, presumably the source of their extraordinary abilities. Rest assured, a complete unveiling of the next Overwatch 2 hero is on the horizon, scheduled to take place prior to the Season 6 update. As eager fans eagerly anticipate this exciting reveal, they should stay tuned for further updates and details.
In the meantime, Keller also shared a hand-drawn image of what fans can expect from the Flashpoint game mode in Overwatch 2. Although not completely representative of the Flashpoint map Suravasa, the image should still provide fans with a general idea of what to anticipate from the map and game mode. According to Keller, Flashpoint incorporates two spawn points for each team and five objectives. The first active point in a match will always be the central point, while the other points are presumably selected at random. The fundamental concept revolves around applying the Overwatch 2 gameplay loop to a larger map, and it will be intriguing to observe the community's response when Season 6 arrives.
In Season 6, another exciting aspect to anticipate is the inclusion of Overwatch 2's PvE story missions. Although the controversial choice of locking these missions behind a paywall has sparked debates, fans might show more leniency if the missions display exceptional quality.
Overwatch 2 is currently available for early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
