Battlefield 2042 Update 5.2 Patch Notes

In spite of the initial difficulties faced during its release, Battlefield 2042 has undergone a series of updates that bring about significant enhancements and bug fixes. These updates from DICE have not only addressed various issues but have also incorporated valuable changes to the game, all while diligently heeding player feedback.

Audio

Fixed an issue where the sliding sound would play endlessly if a player was killed while sliding.

Fixed an audio issue that resulted in no impact sounds when hit by certain weapons while inside of an air vehicle.

Subsonic ammo will no longer have bullet crack sounds.

Sundance now will play a Voice Over when requesting or skipping a revive.

Decreased the volume of the late reflection sounds of Crawford's Mounted Vulcan.

- Resolved the problem where Irish's DC-2 Deployable Cover did not produce any sound when destroyed.

- Eliminated the bullet colliding sound when melee attacking friendly players in the head. However, we strongly discourage stabbing your friends in the head.

Improved the audio impact for the EMP Grenade.

Soldier & AI

The Penguins greased some of the ladders, causing the Specialists to lose control while using them. We informed the penguins that these were ladders, not slides, and after some persuasion, they agreed to clean up the mess.

Resolved a problem wherein directional arrows were always visible for allied soldiers and vehicles, even when they were in the player's line of sight.

Battlefield Portal

Fixed an issue that resulted in long names for Custom Experiences not properly being framed during the loading screen.

The Teleport Block for MCOMs will now correctly function on Flashpoint.

Updated Game Mode iconography to correctly reflect icons within My Experiences Tab.

Fixed an issue that caused the BC2 Armored Transport vehicles to have the wrong icon.

Maps

Exposure

Resolved an issue that allowed for Sundance to fly outside of the play area.

Reclaimed

Custom Conquest is now available within Battlefield Portal!

Modes

Rush

Attackers will no longer be able to detect Defenders defusing MCOMs based on displayed icons, and Defenders will not be able to observe when Attackers are arming. Dev Comment: We found that this mechanic was heavily relied upon to determine when to counter the enemy. Our aim is to promote awareness of objectives rather than relying on icons.

Improved the retreat timer and fall back messaging for Defenders.

Specialists & Gadgets

Bushes no longer block players from interacting with dropped weapons and deployed gadgets.

The first call-in of the Hazard Zone call-in tablet will no longer be auto-cancelled due to a resolved issue.

Resolved an issue where players who were not facing the explosion at the point of detonation were not able to see the post-explosion smoke VFX.

Ammo Crate

Ammo Crates now have a shared supply cooldown between other deployed ammo crates.

Ammo & Medic Crates will now have a recharge time of 16 seconds, down from 30.

Ammo Crates will now supply every 15, instead of 20 seconds.

Ammo Crates now provide an additional magazine for both primary and secondary weapons. This adjustment has been made for two main reasons. Firstly, we aim to diminish the occurrences of players rapidly accumulating large amounts of supplies by accessing multiple crates within a short timeframe. Secondly, we have taken into consideration your feedback regarding the lengthy cooldowns for crates. With this alteration, we are able to decrease the cooldown duration without compromising game balance.

Anti-Tank Grenade

Fixed an issue where Anti-Tank grenades could bounce off a vehicle without detonation while the vehicle was moving away from the thrower.

C5

Fixed an issue where C5 could bounce off other C5 that was already attached to a target.

Made improvements towards some cases where throwing C5 at fast moving vehicles would often not stick.

You can no longer interact with or pick up C5s and Claymores through large foliage structures such as tree trunks.

Irish

Fixed an issue where an active APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel could intercept the same projectile twice.

Rao

Fixed an issue that caused Rao's CyberSuite Warfare device to continually switch between targets when aiming at vehicles.

Smoke Grenade

The Smoke Grenade is now automatically available at level 1. Additionally, we have replaced the default Frag Grenade with the Smoke Grenade for the Recon and Support Classes. Our intention with this adjustment is to help new players understand the significance of Smoke Grenades in relation to these classes. Smoke Grenades are invaluable for supporting actions and providing concealment.

We have also added the SPH Explosive Launcher.

Fixed an issue that allowed players to be able to go prone when stuck with the SPH Explosive Launchers projectile to negate the damage entirely.

Throwing Knife

The issue with the Throwing Knives icon appearing behind a moving target has been resolved.

The problem with the Throwing Knives not moving along with automatic doors when they open or close has been fixed.

Weapons

The Fire Mode indicator is now only visible for Marksman Rifles when underbarrels are equipped and active.

Improved the replication of recoil control when firing at a Dozer shield, ensuring consistent performance.

Addressed the problem causing slower player movement than intended during aiming with the XCE Bar and BSV-M.

Fixed numerous Laser Sight VFX alignment issues on weapons.

The NVK-FSN Holo now has the intended reticule.

Fixed the weapon firing animation on the NVK-P125.

Fixed an issue that caused over exposure of the players surroundings when firing full auto with the ACOG 4x Scope.

Fixed an issue that caused the camera to snap when swapping from or to various weapons while prone.

Dispersion Tweaks

SMGs have seen adjustments to their dispersion rates, similar to recent changes made to Assault Rifles. While they now have a higher initial dispersion, their maximum dispersion and the rate at which it is reached are now comparable to Assault Rifles.

Dispersion penalties are now correctly applied when moving under specific circumstances, resulting in an increased rate of dispersion and a higher minimum dispersion for LMGs. This fix ensures a more balanced and fair gameplay experience for all players.

Improved the accuracy of weapon dispersion when the player is in motion, resolving any inconsistencies.

Enhanced the spread and shooting mechanics of Vault SMGs to ensure they are more reliable and competitive compared to All-Out Warfare alternatives.

Bipods' are now more effective against dispersion and recoil on LMGs to compensate for these changes

Vehicles

Fixed an issue with the roll rate of the F-35E Panther following the utilization of VTOL mode. The SU-57 FELON has also undergone improvements in terms of the roll rate.

Radar missiles are now unable to lock onto stealth helicopters or penetrate flares. However, under certain circumstances, such as when the vehicle is in close proximity and the flares are activated, this may still occur.

Passengers will now get hints such as when to reload.

Fixed an issue that caused the LCAA Hovercraft, Mi-240 Super Hind and MV-38 Condor to not have functional directional exiting.

Enhanced ground vehicle functionality by introducing a feature that enables users to conveniently exit vehicles in the direction they are facing. Furthermore, implemented supplementary exit points at the rear of combat ground vehicles, granting the option to exit from behind the vehicle.

Resolved a bug where tank turrets would experience twitching when turning the tank while utilizing decoupled aim and inputting target lock.

Resolved a bug where a visual representation of a second shot from the 20mm Flak would erroneously appear in third-person, despite only one shot being fired in reality.

Resolved the problem where the victims of the EMKV90-TOR's railcannon were unable to perceive any visual indication of the trajectory of the projectiles.

Rectified a persistent issue where a black screen would appear when transitioning between the zoomed-in and zoomed-out views on vehicles and when accessing menus inside vehicles. We hope this is the final resolution for this problem!

The issue causing misalignment between the vehicle weapon's blue bracketed crosshair and the barrel direction when the vehicle was in motion has been resolved. Additionally, the impact sound that was missing on certain vehicle weapons, such as the Flak 20mm and 30mm cannon of the Wildcat, has been fixed.

Battlefield 2042 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
