Blizzard has yet to announce any plans to bring World of Warcraft (WoW) to console, unlike other popular games. However, Holly Longdale, WoW's vice president and executive producer, believes that Blizzard is well-equipped to make the transition despite the technical challenges and complexities involved.
Depending on who you ask, opinions will vary. Personally, I don't believe it is a problem. In fact, I think we have a strong position, which is why we discuss it. It's a complex matter, especially when considering the console audience's viewpoint.
Presently, Blizzard's main focus is on the ambitious Worldsoul Saga, encompassing three expansions. Nevertheless, Longdale mentioned the possibility of reconsidering a potential console version of WoW in the future.
"We are thrilled about these three expansions. It would be disingenuous to deny our excitement. It's evident that we are discussing this matter, as, after all, we are now part of Microsoft," she expressed. Longdale mentioned that there have been no discussions within Blizzard about the possibility of introducing WoW to consoles or including it in the Game Pass for PC catalog at this point.
Other MMOs that have successfully transitioned from PC to console include The Elder Scrolls Online, DC Universe Online, and Final Fantasy XIV, among others. Additionally, there are potential plans to bring The Lord of the Rings Online to console.
Regarding WoW, the game initially premiered in 2004, making its 20th anniversary on the horizon. Players can anticipate the release of the next expansion, The War Within, in Fall 2024.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the possibility of World of Warcraft (WoW) coming to consoles. I have been playing WoW on PC for years, and I think it would be a great opportunity to bring the game to a wider audience. Console gaming is becoming increasingly popular, and I think WoW could be a big hit on platforms like the PlayStation and Xbox.
I think Blizzard could do a lot to make WoW more accessible to console players. For example, they could simplify the controls and make the user interface more user-friendly. They could also add features that are specifically designed for console players, such as controller support and cross-platform play.
I believe that bringing WoW to consoles would be a great way to revitalize the game and attract new players. I am hopeful that Blizzard will eventually decide to make this happen.
