Rebel Wilson is claiming Sacha Baron Cohen has tried to stop the release of her upcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising.”
Wilson and Baron Cohen starred together “The Brothers Grimsby” in 2016.
Wilson took to her Instagram stories on Monday to express her determination not to be intimidated or silenced by expensive lawyers or crisis managers. She made it clear that the individual she referred to as an "a**hole" in her book is Sacha Baron Cohen.
Prior to this, Wilson had hinted on social media about someone trying to prevent the release of her new book. Despite the attempts to halt the press, she reassured her followers that the truth will eventually come out.
Wilson did not mention the details of what she wrote about Baron Cohen in her posts. However, a spokesperson for the comedian and actor informed CNN that Wilson's claims are untrue.
The spokesperson stated, "Even though we value the act of speaking up, these claims are clearly untrue. We have ample evidence, such as documents, videos, and firsthand accounts from individuals who were there during the making of The Brothers Grimsby, that contradict these allegations."
"When I first arrived in Hollywood, people would often say, 'I have a strict no ahole policy**,' meaning they refuse to work with difficult people. At first, I thought, 'Oh, that makes sense.' But it really hit home when I had to deal with a truly awful person. That's when I decided to adopt my own no a**holes policy," Wilson shared in a video posted on Instagram recently.
In a 2016 interview with UK Marie Claire, Wilson revealed that Baron Cohen had asked her to do a nude scene in "The Brothers Grimsby," but she turned down the request.
Wilson emphasized the importance of having individuals with sensibility and decency working behind the camera. She noted that in the world of comedy, these qualities are sometimes lacking.
"Rebel Rising" is set to be released on April 2.
