Sacha Baron Cohen responded through a representative to Rebel Wilson's claim in her upcoming memoir that he was a "massive asshole." The representative stated that the allegations were false and provided evidence such as documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from The Brothers Grimsby production to contradict Wilson's claims.
A source confirmed that Wilson, who is 44 years old, shared a story in a book about collaborating with Cohen, who is 52 years old, on the movie The Brothers Grimsby in 2016. Wilson's previous comments about Cohen from a radio interview while promoting the film have recently resurfaced.
In a 2014 interview on the Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O Show, Wilson recalled, "Sacha is so outrageous. Every day he’s like, ‘Just go naked, it will be funny.’ And I’m, like, ‘No!’ I told Sacha, ‘I’m going to call our agent Sharon and report how much you are harassing me,’ as we both share the same agent in America."
While filming the final scene of the film, Wilson shared that things took a surprising turn. According to Wilson, Cohen asked her to stick her finger up his butt, which was not part of the script. Wilson was taken aback by this request and expressed her confusion to Cohen.
Wilson later took to social media on Monday to accuse Cohen of attempting to silence her.
"I won't let expensive lawyers or crisis managers intimidate me. The person I'm referring to in my book is Sasha Baron Cohen," the actress shared on her Instagram Story.
Wilson had hinted before that her book would delve into her "no assholes policy."
In a recent Instagram video, she mentioned, "I don't work with assholes." At first, I thought, "Yeah, that makes sense," but then I realized they were referring to older people in the industry.
Rebel Rising will be available on stands starting Tuesday, April 2nd.
