Rebel Wilson revealed that the actor she referred to as a "massive asshole" before her memoir release was Sacha Baron Cohen.
In an Instagram Story on Monday, March 25, Wilson, 44, stated, "I will not be intimidated or silenced by expensive lawyers or crisis managers. The 'asshole' I mentioned in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen."
The actress from Pitch Perfect previously hinted that she would share everything in her upcoming memoir, including the name of the difficult person she encountered.
In a recent Instagram post, she asked, "Curious about why I now have a 'no assholes' rule when it comes to working with people?" She assured her followers, "You'll find out all the details in my book. And yes, I do reveal the person's name!"
Wilson shared in a video how she quickly picked up on the "no assholes" policy in Hollywood.
In the video, Wilson mentioned how people would say they had a "no assholes policy," meaning they refused to work with difficult individuals. At first, she thought it sounded reasonable, but then she realized they were referring to the older generation in the industry.
Wilson revealed that following a negative experience with a difficult individual on a movie set, she has implemented a new policy for all her projects. In her memoir, she dedicated Chapter 23 to this particular person, describing him as a "massive asshole."
After the release of her memoir, Wilson faced backlash from the individual she had written about. She shared on her Instagram Story that he was attempting to prevent the publication of her book by hiring a crisis PR manager and lawyers to threaten her.
"He is trying to stop the press from revealing details about my book," she continued. "But rest assured, the book will be released, and the truth will be known to all. Rebel xoxo."
Wilson had initially accused Baron Cohen, 52, of harassment back in 2014, when they were working together on The Brothers Grimsby.
Wilson shared on the Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia that Sacha's behavior was outrageous. Every day, he would suggest, "Just go naked, it will be funny," to which Wilson would respond with a firm "No." They both share the same agent in America, and Wilson jokingly threatened to inform their agent Sharon about Sacha's persistent teasing.
During the filming of the final scene, Wilson revealed that things took an uncomfortable turn. Sacha allegedly asked her to stick her finger up his butt, which was not part of the script. Confused, Wilson questioned Sacha's request, but he insisted it would be a funny addition to the scene by pulling down his pants. To date, Baron Cohen, who is now 52, has not publicly addressed these allegations.

Wilson claimed she was a victim of sexual harassment by a “male star,” whom she never identified three years later.
“I’ve been away in a ‘bubble’ of sorts creating new comedy overseas but it’s so hard to hear all these stories relating to sexual harassment and assault in Hollywood,” she wrote in a since-deleted post in November 2017 referring to the “Me Too” movement, according to screenshots from Huffington Post. “As you guys know, I’m a pretty strong and confident person, but even I have a story to tell.”
She remembered a distressing incident where a male celebrity, who held a position of power, asked her to go into a room with him. He then repeatedly pressured her to do something inappropriate, while his male friends attempted to film the situation on their phones and laughed. Despite her repeated refusals, she managed to leave the room.
After immediately contacting her agent and lodging a complaint with the film studio, Wilson revealed that she was later threatened by one of the star's representatives to be supportive and understanding. She described the entire ordeal as utterly disgusting.
In 2021, Wilson shared a disturbing experience of harassment involving a prominent movie director. She revealed to BBC that the director had promised to assist with her comedy career but instead continuously pressured her to drink more alcohol.
During the unsettling encounter, Wilson overheard the director speaking to his wife on the phone. His wife accused him of planning to sleep with Wilson in the hotel room. This conversation made Wilson realize that the situation was inappropriate and alarming.
She explained, "That was the first time I thought, 'Oh, my God, what is this? What's going on?'" She quickly left the room before things escalated further.
