DC is reborn, as two years have passed since Zack Snyder's Justice League turmoil, and Ray Fisher returns in Rebel Moon. However, are his days as a superhero behind him? It stands as one of the most definitive sagas in modern movie history, after four years of relentless campaigning following Joss Whedon's mishandling of Justice League, Snyder finally delivered his unlikely director's cut.
Fisher, who portrayed Victor Stone, also known as Cyborg, was a prominent critic of ‘Josstice League’, openly accusing the replacement director of "abusive, unprofessional" conduct. He has consistently supported Snyder and the two have teamed up for Rebel Moon, their new space opera set to air on Netflix. The Snyder-conceived DCEU is coming to an end with Aquaman 2, and while Fisher may consider reprising his role in the new era led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, is he also in favor of efforts to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse?
Ray Fisher gets candid about DC, the SnyderVerse & Rebel Moon
Earlier this year, reports emerged that the entire Justice League would undergo recasting as part of the DC Studios reboot. The Flash saw the exit of Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, while Henry Cavill’s Superman made an unintended farewell in Black Adam. Additionally, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is set to disappear into the depths of the 2023 box office.
Cyborg has been relatively quiet since the release of the Snyder Cut. While Gunn and the team gear up for Superman Legacy, there are still hopes for the SnyderVerse to continue through Netflix. Fisher, however, is prioritizing the present and future in a different galaxy. “I’m focused on Rebel Moon. This will be an exciting and immersive world,” he stated in a recent interview.
"I've already watched half of the movie, I've watched Part One twice. I'm eager for Part Two, the extended version, and all the additional lore, comics, and video games that may accompany it, you know. I'm fully committed to this right now, and although I can't predict the future, I acknowledge and understand people's desire for it." Fisher mentioned in 2021, in an interview with Comic Book Debate, that he would reprise his role as Cyborg "in a heartbeat" under Snyder's direction, but he also expressed a desire for an apology from the studio.
Warner Bros. should start with an apology for the unacceptable behavior from Walter Hamada and Warner Bros. Pictures during a crucial time for Black people, according to Fisher. Fisher also tweeted last year, saying that Walter Hamada still owed an apology to the participants of the Justice League investigation for covering up Geoff Johns' behavior.
Snyder may be the only way for him to return to the DC world, but if that's the case, it may never happen. The director has stated that he will only come back for a specific project: a "true" adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns.
Rebel Moon will be in limited theaters on December 15 and available for streaming on Netflix starting November 21. Learn more here.

As a Gen Z fan, I am thrilled to see Ray Fisher speaking out about his potential return to the DC Universe. Fisher's portrayal of Cyborg in Zack Snyder's Justice League was one of the highlights of the film, and I believe he deserves another chance to shine in the role. I understand that there have been some issues between Fisher and Warner Bros., but I hope that these can be resolved so that Fisher can return to the DCU.
I am also excited about the possibility of the SnyderVerse continuing on Netflix. Snyder's vision for the DC Universe is unique and compelling, and I believe it deserves to be explored further. I hope that Netflix will give Snyder the opportunity to continue his story and bring his vision to life. Overall, I am optimistic about the future of the DC Universe and I believe that Ray Fisher and Zack Snyder have a lot to offer the franchise.
