Experiencing challenges, heightened emotions, mood swings, and hormone fluctuations exceeding those of a typical menstrual cycle. McCurdy expressed the difficulty of the decision lies in her uncertainty of her future desires.
"I am attempting to gamble on the possibility that my future self may desire something that my current self cannot fathom wanting, rather than abstaining and taking the risk that I may want it someday but no longer have the ability to attain it – and subsequently regret such a decision," she clarified. "I am currently evaluating these alternatives, and it is a rather intricate process."
Continuing, she added, "I encountered a sense of apprehension about getting older and the disparity between who I am presently and who I might become in the future, along with the vast amount of uncertainty surrounding my future self. I found myself grappling with these existential realities that, to be honest, I did not feel adequately prepared for – and that feeling persists."
