Princess Diana's Brother Commends Kate Middleton for Her Remarkable Courage and Grace Amid Cancer Struggle

Charles Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana, expresses admiration for Kate Middleton's resilience and elegance following her revelation of battling cancer.

Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, commended Princess Kate Middleton for her handling of her cancer diagnosis.

"Incredible strength and poise," Spencer, 59, wrote via X on Saturday, March 23, reposting Kensington Palace’s video of Kate, 42, sharing the news.

Spencer is Diana's younger brother who passed away in 1997 at the age of 36. Diana, the late Princess of Wales, is the mother of Prince William, who is married to Kate, and Prince Harry, who married Meghan Markle in 2018. (Diana had her sons with her ex-husband King Charles III.)

On Friday, March 22, Kate confirmed in a video shared by the palace that she has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but did not provide additional details.

Kate shared in a video that she had major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially, it was believed that her condition was non-cancerous. The surgery went well, but post-operation tests revealed the presence of cancer. Therefore, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has started in the early stages.

She mentioned that both she and William have been handling the situation privately to protect their young family. Dealing with everything has taken time, especially allowing herself to recover from the surgery before beginning the treatment.

Kate and William have three children together: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. They chose to keep Kate's diagnosis private until they had spoken to their kids first, waiting for their school holiday.

In a video, Kate sat calmly on a bench at Windsor Castle, sharing details about her condition and treatment. She assured everyone that she is committed to getting better and following her doctors' advice.

Royal expert Christopher Andersen also praised Kate for her handling of the difficult situation, echoing Spencer's sentiments.

Andersen, who is known for his 2011 biography William and Kate: A Royal Love Story, expressed his shock and sadness over the situation. He commended Kate for her courage and grace, stating that he couldn't think of anyone better to handle the circumstances.

He also mentioned his understanding of Kate's desire to protect her children, emphasizing the importance of family in times of hardship.

King Charles III, Kate's father-in-law, praised the princess for her strength during the ordeal. He expressed his pride in Catherine's courage and her ability to speak out. Charles, 75, shared in a statement on Friday that he has been in constant communication with his beloved daughter-in-law since their time in the hospital together. He mentioned that both he and his wife, Queen Camilla, will continue to provide love and support to the entire family during this challenging period.

Charles has also been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, limiting his public appearances as he receives treatment.
