Prince William is getting ready to attend his first royal engagement after his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, shared her cancer diagnosis.
According to Kensington Palace, the Prince of Wales will be visiting West London and Surrey on April 18. His visit aims to showcase the important work being done by community and environmental organizations in the area.
William, aged 41, will start his day in Sunbury-on-Thames to observe how the charity Surplus to Supper manages the delivery, sorting, and repackaging of unused food for community groups. Following this, he will visit a youth center in West London that regularly receives surplus food deliveries and distributes them to those in need.
After his three children with Kate, aged 42 — Prince George, aged 10, Princess Charlotte, aged 8, and Prince Louis, aged 5 — go back to school for a new term, William's royal duties will also resume.
William has recently reduced his work commitments to support his wife who announced to the public that she has cancer.
Kate shared in a video on social media on March 22 that she had major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially, it was believed to be noncancerous, but post-surgery tests revealed the presence of cancer. As a result, her medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she has started in the early stages.

She mentioned that she is doing well and improving each day by concentrating on activities that promote healing in her mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, she expressed gratitude for the comfort and reassurance provided by having William by her side, as well as the love, support, and kindness shown by many others.
William has been trying to stay strong after his wife's announcement, but sources say he actually feels "helpless and scared." He has been leaning on other family members to help out so he can be there for his family.
Despite the challenges, William and Kate are choosing to look at the bright side. They are grateful for the encouraging messages they've been receiving from royal fans worldwide.
