Prince William has always been aware of his future role as the king of England, following in the footsteps of those who came before him. As a prominent member of the British royal family, he has carved his own path. Born to King Charles III and Princess Diana in June 1982, he was joined by his brother Prince Harry in September 1984. Unfortunately, the brothers had to endure two heartbreaking childhood events: their parents' divorce in August 1996 and the devastating loss of their mother in August 1997.
William has openly discussed the impact of his mother's untimely death and how it has affected him over the years. In a 2019 interview with BBC's A Royal Team Talk: Tackling Mental Health, he expressed that the pain experienced from losing a loved one at a young age is unlike any other. He acknowledged that it would be challenging to encounter a pain worse than that. Despite his grief, William found support in his brother Harry and they leaned on each other during this difficult time. William continued to navigate his life and eventually crossed paths with his future wife, Princess Kate, while studying in Scotland. Scotland holds a special significance for him as it was a place where he sought solace and spent time with his family after Diana's passing.
Prior to their highly anticipated royal wedding in April 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton revealed intimate details about their relationship in their engagement interview in 2010. They both emphasized the fun they have together and their shared sense of humor. Despite their royal status, they remain grounded and often tease each other, with William finding amusement in Kate's unique habits. Kate, on the other hand, expressed gratitude for William's consistent care and support throughout their relationship, both during the happy moments and the challenging ones.
The couple went on to welcome three children into their family: Prince George in July 2013, Princess Charlotte in May 2015, and Prince Louis in April 2018.
In November 2016, William opened up about his experience adjusting to fatherhood. He acknowledged that it had been quite a transformation for him personally. William expressed gratitude for the support he receives from Catherine, describing her as an incredible mother and a wonderful wife. He also admitted that he has faced challenges along the way, as transitioning from being a single and independent man to getting married and starting a family is truly life-altering.
