The British royal family has returned to the spotlight due to Omid Scobie's latest book, Endgame, but Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have chosen not to comment. The 41-year-old Prince of Wales and his wife declined to address any questions about the book or its consequences during a red carpet event at the annual Royal Variety Performance in London on Thursday, November 30th.
As they arrived at the event, a reporter shouted, "Your Royal Highness, do you have a comment about Omid Scobie’s book?" The couple walked past without acknowledging the question. The reporter then asked, "Did you watch the Piers Morgan show last night, Your Royal Highnesses?" Once again, William and Kate ignored the question, instead making their entrance. Kate wore a blue evening gown with cape sleeves by Safiyaa, while William chose a velvet tuxedo jacket.
The day before the event, 58-year-old Morgan stated that the Dutch version of Endgame was removed from stores in the Netherlands because it revealed the identities of the royals who supposedly inquired about Archie's skin color prior to his birth in May 2019.
Archie, now 4, is the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. During their groundbreaking CBS interview in March 2021, the couple alleged that an unidentified member of the royal family expressed worries about their firstborn's potential skin tone. (The couple also have a 2-year-old daughter named Lilibet.)
"I will never share that conversation. At the time, it was uncomfortable and I was quite shocked. I prefer not to discuss it," said Harry, 39, during the interview. He later clarified that the late Queen Elizabeth II and late Prince Philip were not the ones who made the remarks.
On the November 29 episode of his TV show, Morgan alleged that the Dutch version of Endgame indicated that Kate and King Charles III were the ones who raised questions about Archie's skin tone.
The next day, Scobie refuted the claim that he disclosed the names in any edition of Endgame. "I never presented a book that contained those names," he stated in an interview on ITV's This Morning, expressing his frustration with the ongoing controversy.
