Pokemon GO players are upset over not receiving the promised Poliwag Community Day bonus, including the 50% reduction in Stardust while trading.
The Pokemon GO community is growing increasingly frustrated with Niantic's lack of communication and past instances of missing event bonuses. It is hopeful that Niantic will promptly address the issue and provide compensation in order to restore players' trust and satisfaction.
Pokemon GO players are outraged after not receiving the promised bonus for the Poliwag Community Day event, as initially announced by developer Niantic. The event, scheduled for July 2023, features Poliwag as the highlighted Pokemon, allowing players to capture it and take advantage of reduced item costs for a limited period.
Each month, Pokemon GO organizes Community Day events that showcase a specific Pokemon and its evolutions. The July 2023 Community Day focuses on the first generation Water-type Pokemon, Poliwag, with an increased chance of encountering its shiny variant. However, players only have a limited time frame to benefit from the higher shiny encounter rate for Poliwag. The event is available from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on July 30, giving players a mere three-hour window to capture Poliwag and evolve it into Poliwrath with exclusive moves. Following that, Pokemon GO players can anticipate a special Poliwhirl raid event taking place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time.
During the Poliwag Community Day event, Pokemon GO players expressed their dissatisfaction with the absence of the promised 50% reduction in Stardust for trading. Despite Niantic's assurance that this reduction would be in effect from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, players like swanny246 and Upstairs_Ganache_625 noticed that the Stardust cost remained at 100 instead of 50. Additionally, some players in Australia, Guam, and Malaysia reported not receiving the extra Special Trade while participating in Community Day.
Typically, Pokemon GO Community Day events offer various bonuses, including reduced trading costs, extra Special Trades and XL Candy, and double Candy for catching Pokemon. Most of these bonuses are only available within the three-hour window of the event, although the Special Trade and trading reduction bonuses usually extend from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The frustration within the Pokemon GO community regarding the absence of these bonuses is largely attributed to Niantic's failure to communicate effectively and past incidents of a similar nature. Previous Pokemon GO Community Day events have also encountered problems, with players frequently reporting missing event bonuses and login rewards. Unfortunately, this recurring issue reflects poorly on Niantic once again.
It would be advisable for Niantic to promptly address this issue and consider compensating Pokemon GO players who are unable to benefit from the login bonuses. By doing so, they can begin rebuilding the trust and rapport between themselves and the Pokemon GO community, which may prove advantageous for future events and implementations of significant bug fixes. Furthermore, Niantic has several issues to resolve within the game this year, including the problematic launch of the Pokemon GO Routes feature, which is still fresh in the memories of many players.
Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
