Niantic has made an exciting announcement for Pokemon GO players by introducing Mega Rayquaza into the game. This highly anticipated variant of one of the beloved Legendary Pokemon has brought a wave of excitement among fans. Even though Pokemon GO Season 11 is still in its early stages, it has already provided players with fantastic news, including the confirmation of new content and features.
Despite the recent controversy surrounding remote raid passes, Season 11 has managed to maintain the excitement by revealing that June's Community Day will feature one of the rarest Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Additionally, Niantic has delighted players by announcing that new free items will be available through Amazon Prime Gaming, further extending their partnership with Amazon that began last year. Furthermore, Pokemon GO Web Store has expanded its reach to more regions, allowing players to access limited-time offers and exclusive bundles.
The highly anticipated event of the season is Pokemon GO Fest 2023, featuring the debut of Mega Rayquaza in the game. Rayquaza is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon and is part of the Gen 3 Legendary trio along with Kyogre and Groudon. In Pokemon GO, Mega Rayquaza will first appear in in-person raids at events in London, Osaka, and New York City. While any player can challenge Mega Rayquaza, only ticket holders will receive Mega Energy. Following this, Mega Rayquaza will make its global debut in raids on Sunday, June 27, during Pokemon GO Fest 2023: Global. Players who battle a gym or raid with Mega Rayquaza will receive a bonus that boosts the damage of other Pokemon participating in the same raid or gym. Additionally, players will earn extra XP and Candy when catching Flying-, Psychic-, or Dragon-type Pokemon after Mega Evolving Rayquaza.
Unlike other Pokemon, Rayquaza does not Mega Evolve solely with Mega Energy. In order to Mega Evolve Rayquaza, players must first teach it the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent, which can only be done using the new item called Meteorite. Ticket holders at Pokemon GO Fest in-person events can complete an exclusive Special Research story and earn Meteorite. Similarly, players who log in on Sunday during the global portion of Pokemon GO Fest will receive a brief Special Research story that rewards them with Meteorite upon completion. Mega Rayquaza's arrival marks the second major debut at Pokemon GO Fest, following the confirmation from Niantic that Diancie will also be coming to the game.
Rayquaza, Lugia, and Mewtwo are among the Legendary Pokemon that can only be found in Pokemon GO raids. The introduction of Rayquaza's variant, a top-tier Dragon-type, adds an extra layer of excitement to Pokemon GO Fest for players. While ticket holders will enjoy additional benefits, the event guarantees enjoyable content for those unable to participate in person. Pokemon GO can be downloaded on iOS and Android devices.
