Sony has exciting news for PC gaming enthusiasts as the company has announced the release of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart on the platform. Nixxes Software, in collaboration with Insomniac Games, is handling the port, following in the footsteps of other critically acclaimed PC releases such as Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War. Originally released in 2021, the latest installment in the beloved 3D platformer franchise has received rave reviews and is currently one of the highest-rated PlayStation 5 games. To the delight of fans, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was added to the PlayStation Plus Extra tier in May 2023, allowing for easy downloading of the latest adventure starring the iconic Lombax and Robot duo. The highly anticipated PC port of Rift Apart is set to launch on July 26.

The PC version of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart offers support for ultra-wide displays in 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 (triple monitor support) resolutions, along with DualSense compatibility for haptic feedback and dynamic triggers. However, it's worth noting that controller features are only available through wired connections. Unlike the PS5 version, which provided players with performance and visual modes to choose from, the Nixxes Software team has confirmed that Rift Apart will have an unlocked framerate. This means that individuals with high-end setups can achieve both 4K and ray tracing visuals without sacrificing high framerates. As Nixxes Software was specifically acquired by Sony to develop PC ports, many fans will appreciate the increased flexibility in how the game runs.

Players who have yet to upgrade to an SSD may need to consider doing so for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, as the PC specifications have not been fully confirmed. The game relies heavily on the PS5's SSD to provide seamless transitions when utilizing the rift mechanic, which sends players to different areas of the map instantly. Despite Insomniac Games currently focusing on their upcoming Marvel titles, the release of the PC port shows that Sony is still invested in growing the Ratchet and Clank franchise.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is available on PS5 and will launch for PC on July 26.
