Pierce Brosnan believes that he and wife Keely Shaye Smith are stronger for all they’ve been through together.
"We have a lot of love for each other," Brosnan, 70, revealed in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, December 12. "We've been through tough times, like all families do, but our love has seen us through. It's a spiritual journey to watch each other grow up and grow old together, and it's the love in the heart that truly matters."
In 1994, Brosnan met Smith, who was 60 at the time. This was three years after his first wife, Cassandra Harris, passed away from ovarian cancer. Before Harris’ death, she and Brosnan had a son, Sean, in 1983. Brosnan also adopted Harris’ daughter, Charlotte, and son, Chris, from her previous marriage.
In a 2018 interview with Closer, Brosnan shared that he felt fortunate to have found love again with Smith after the loss of his first wife. "We were destined to meet. I thank God for her every day," he expressed. "When Keely gazes at me, I feel vulnerable. I cherish her energy, her enthusiasm. She possesses a resilience that I cannot imagine living without."

Brosnan and Smith got married in Ireland in 2001. Their sons Dylan and Paris were born in 1997 and 2001, respectively. Brosnan expressed his gratitude on Tuesday for the unwavering support that Smith has provided for him and their sons.
"Keeley is not just a journalist or a reporter, she's an artist in her own right. As a woman, she's created a family for our sons," he stated. "She gives me the freedom to pursue my career, allowing me to go out and do what I do as a man, as an actor."
Even as he ventures into the "wild blue yonder" for his acting, Brosnan keeps Smith close to him. In a subtle tribute to his wife, he wore his actual wedding ring on screen in his 2022 film Black Adam.
“This is our wedding ring and this is a watch that Keely bought me many years ago with an inscription that [reads], ‘Time flies on love’s wings,'” Brosnan shared with Entertainment Tonight during the movie’s premiere. “I chose to wear it for this character. It felt fitting.”

Brosnan isn’t the only romantic in the relationship. Smith sang her husband’s praises during a joint interview with Closer in 2018.
“Pierce is intelligent, captivating and his real beauty emanates from the soul,” she told the outlet. “And, like a fine wine, he’s aging beautifully.”
