Throughout the 2023-2024 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs have had an unexpected supporter in the stands: Taylor Swift. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is fully supportive of her presence.
“I don’t believe there's any difference in how it feels. When people see Taylor Swift and Travis [Kelce] together, they tend to blow it up and make it a big deal because it truly is a big deal,” stated Mahomes, 28, in a conversation with ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington on Saturday, November 18. He was responding to a question about his "brother" Kelce's new romantic relationship. "I think the fans make a bigger deal out of it than the guys who are actually part of our team."
Since September, Swift, 33, and Kelce, 34, have been romantically linked. This was nearly three months after the Chiefs tight end attended her Eras Tour concert, where he revealed that he had failed to exchange contact information with her. Eventually, they were able to connect, and Swift even attended a Chiefs home game against the Chicago Bears.
Taylor Swift, the Grammy winner, subsequently made appearances at three additional football games of Kelce's and formed connections with his teammates. This display of support from Swift garnered significant attention from fans, eventually inspiring a parody on Saturday Night Live.
Expressing his admiration on a Saturday, Mahomes enthusiastically said, "I consider myself fortunate to have met Taylor and witnessed her genuine goodness. It's easy to comprehend why her presence hasn't become a distraction; everyone involved is committed to giving their best every day."
Taylor Swift has developed a close bond with Brittany Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes' wife, after frequently watching the Chiefs games together. Their friendship led to Swift hosting a small gathering at her New York City apartment for Brittany and other Chiefs wives during the team's match against the Miami Dolphins in Germany. A source revealed that Swift is thoroughly enjoying her newfound connections with the wives and girlfriends of Travis' teammates, as they share a similar sense of fun and a love for supporting Travis and the Chiefs.
High school sweethearts Patrick and Brittany, who tied the knot in 2022, were avid fans of Taylor Swift even before they met the renowned pop star. Just like Kelce, they eagerly attended her Eras show in July when she graced Kansas City. "In the off-season, who knows, I might be jetting off to Europe for a concert or something," hilariously remarked Patrick during his appearance on ESPN.
Swift kicked off the international segment of her Eras Tour this month, delighting fans with three electric performances in Argentina. To the delight of many, Kelce was spotted in the VIP tent, where Taylor's father, Scott Swift, was also present, during her second show in Buenos Aires. Presently, she is captivating audiences with a series of sensational shows in Brazil. As for the overseas tour dates, anticipation builds for their arrival in 2024.
