Since the release of the first Palworld trailer back in 2021, the title has captivated audiences via the striking visuals of its open world, the draw of being able to collect a variety of cute creatures called 'Pals' that resemble Pokemon, and, most importantly, the player character having the ability to use guns.

While Pokemon clones that focus on the monster-collecting aspect, such as Temtem, are very common, Palworld stands out among these. The trailer showed Pals being used in various ways ranging from homesteading, like watering a garden, to building a house. The creatures were also shown fighting alongside the player character, who was wielding a variety of weapons such as shotguns and rocket launchers, with some of the Pals even being used for defense as a shield against enemy attacks. As such, gamers started to refer to the title online as “Pokemon with guns.”

Unveiling Jetragon: A Legendary Celestial Dragon

With the early access launch soon approaching, Pocket Pair has been releasing trailers of new Pals that players can expect to encounter. One of these new Pals is called Jetragon, which looks like a combination of Latios and Salamence. Jetragon has a primarily blue tone with black and orange accents, as well as four pink diamond-shaped wings that are similar to the Paradox Pokemon, Iron Moth.

The reveal trailer identified this new Pal as a legendary celestial dragon and featured the player character taking on a level 25 version with Relaxauras, a Palworld creature that looks like Snorlax and Lapras, as well as another that looked to be an Ice-type Hatterene with wings.

After capturing the creature, the player character soars through the skies of Palworld’s Palpagos Island on the aptly named Jetragon. The trailer ended with a preview of Jetragon taking on the next Paldeck entry called Elizabee, which looks like the Beehive Pokemon, Vespiquen.

Palworld vs. Pokemon: A Unique Gaming Experience

Pokemon is arguably the most popular monster-collecting game, so titles of the same genre will not be able to escape being compared to it. However, Palworld is offering something that Pokemon probably never will. Players can have a bit of fun by joining the dark side to role-play as a member of Team Rocket in Palworld.

Palworld is in development for PC and Xbox consoles.
