On One Piece Day, Oda released a letter through Netflix Geeked in order to address the concerns of fans regarding the live-action series. In this letter, Oda emphasized the extent of his creative control during the production process, as well as the immense amount of effort that went into the creation of the series. The teaser and the trailer are now out, and the launch date for the show itself is set for August 31. I’ll say this. There were no compromises on this show!

The festivities have already commenced! It's quite entertaining witnessing the flurry of reactions following each information release. It's absolutely mind-boggling that the idea to adapt One Piece into a live-action series was conceived 7 years ago. How will this world be brought to life?! So much effort has been dedicated to this project - from the actors' performances to the creation of the world and costumes. Presenting everything in a manner unique to live action, including the dialogue, has been a marvelous collaborative process.

Following the premiere, I anticipate encountering individuals who may point out missing characters, omitted scenes, or deviations from the original manga. However, I am confident that these comments will arise out of love, so I intend to appreciate even those remarks! Haha, the story will unfold over 8 episodes and take us on a journey up to a particular point that we all know!

Even after the shoot concluded, there were multiple scenes that the production team decided to reshoot due to their lack of quality for public viewing. On the other hand, there were also some lines that didn't capture Luffy's essence on paper. However, when I witnessed the recorded scenes, I thought to myself, "It works perfectly when Inaki portrays Luffy! In fact, it works exceptionally well!" (Inaki being the actor who portrays Luffy.) Many efforts were made to prevent the live action adaptation from appearing too forced or artificial.

The producers and crew are professionals in the realm of live action and, to be frank, they are avid One Piece enthusiasts as well. The deeper your understanding of One Piece, the more evident it becomes that they poured their heart and soul into this project.

In June, we made the ultimate decision to proceed with the launch of this show. My editor, who had put in tremendous effort, even shed tears as he reflected, "It has been quite a lengthy journey..." Haha. Of course, hard work doesn't necessarily ensure success.

At this point, I have grown to adore both the production team and the cast, eagerly anticipating the recognition they rightfully deserve from audiences worldwide. And should any criticisms arise, I will be there to face them alongside them.
