O.J. Simpson has been cremated, according to his lawyer Malcom LaVergne who confirmed this to The Associated Press.

Simpson was cremated on Wednesday, April 17, at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas. LaVergne mentioned that he was present during the cremation but did not provide any additional information about who else was in attendance.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Simpson passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer. The Simpson family shared in a statement via X that their father, Orenthal James Simpson, passed away on April 10th. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. They also requested privacy and grace during this time of mourning.

Before Simpson was cremated, LaVergne spoke about his last days. Simpson spent his final days at home, surrounded by his loved ones, saying his goodbyes.

LaVergne, who is also the executor of Simpson's estate, shared with We on April 16 that the last thing Simpson expressed was his desire for a few more years. He specifically mentioned wanting to witness his oldest grandchild start school, which would have brought him great joy. Despite not reaching this milestone, Simpson found happiness in being a grandfather and cherishing moments with his grandchildren.

In February, there were reports about Simpson receiving treatment for prostate cancer, although he never publicly acknowledged his diagnosis. Addressing rumors of being in hospice care, Simpson took to social media to dispel the speculation.

Simpson denied being in hospice care in a video posted online in February, expressing confusion about the rumors. He made it clear that he was not receiving hospice services and questioned who spread that misinformation.

Even though Simpson gained fame as an NFL player, his reputation took a dark turn following the tragic deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. Their bodies were discovered stabbed to death outside her Los Angeles residence in 1994.
