Country music stars are rejoicing over their victories at the 2023 CMA Awards.
The annual event, held at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 8, is graced for the second consecutive year by NFL icon Peyton Manning and country music sensation Luke Bryan as hosts. Moreover, Bryan, at the age of 47, will not only be fulfilling his hosting responsibilities but also mesmerizing the audience with a medley of his popular hits like "One Margarita," "That's My Kind of Night," "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)," and many more.
Additional performances will be provided by renowned country music artists such as Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town, and Lainey Wilson. Among them, Lainey Wilson emerges as the frontrunner with an impressive nine nominations this year.
At just 31 years old, Wilson is making waves and shattering records at the CMA Awards. She becomes the first artist in over a decade to receive two nominations for Single of the Year. Moreover, Wilson and Carrie Underwood both find themselves in the running for Entertainer of the Year, representing a historic moment as it marks the fourth consecutive year two women have been nominated in this category.
"Holy cow, everyone! Pinch me, I must be dreaming. I can't believe what I'm seeing," Wilson exclaimed via X (formerly known as Twitter) when the nominations were announced in September. "Being nominated in these categories alongside my friends means the world to me. Entertainer of the Year?! It feels absolutely surreal. We work tirelessly on the road every night to deliver the best show for all of you, and I genuinely enjoy every moment of it. All I can say is thank you. I have a deep love for country music." Jelly Roll follows Wilson closely with five nominations, while Luke Combs and HARDY are tied for third place with four each.
