Pokemon GO's October Community Day featuring Timburr may not be as appealing as past months due to its less-thematic choice and underwhelming shiny variants.
Timburr's shiny variant, unlike the desirable ones featured in September's Community Day, is considered mediocre and may not generate as much interest among players. Nonetheless, it would be unwise to completely disregard October, as there are other thrilling events to look forward to, such as the Harvest Festival and Halloween Event. These events might present more alluring shiny variants and could potentially introduce new Pokemon to the game.
Pokemon GO has recently been on a streak, with exciting updates and events including the introduction of new critters from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Psychic Spectacular Event in September, and a fantastic September Community Day featuring Grubbin. Throughout the month, players enjoyed a great selection of desirable Pokemon, including their coveted shiny versions, thanks to these events. However, even with the lineup of events for October 2023, such as the Harvest Festival Event and the Halloween Event, one October event might have a tough time living up to September's Pokemon GO events.
Despite a decline in player count since its massive release in 2016, the popular mobile game has given players numerous reasons to keep diving back in. One of the main attractions that keeps players hooked is the frequent events that provide an increased chance of encountering rare shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Each month, a specific Pokemon takes the spotlight during the Community Day event, with boosted spawn rates and shiny odds. However, October's Community Day for Pokemon GO might not be as captivating as previous months.
Pokemon GO's October Community Day Spotlight on Timburr Doesn't Compare to September's Event
The Gen 5 Fighting type Timburr has been confirmed as the featured creature for October 2023's Community Day in Pokemon GO. While some fans may be excited by this announcement, others may feel that a more thematically fitting creature could have been chosen for the month of October. Timburr does not evoke autumn imagery like some other creatures do. It is possible that Pokemon GO has decided to save certain creatures for the Harvest Festival and Halloween Events, which may explain why Timburr was selected for October's Community Day.
In addition to the peculiar thematic choice, what makes Timburr a somewhat disappointing Community Day creature is its unappealing shiny variations, as well as those of its evolutions. Timburr and its evolutions, Gurdurr and Conkeldurr, already have designs that have sparked controversy, and their shiny forms do not improve upon this. Timburr and Gurdurr transition from a tan and pink color scheme to a mustard and peach palette, while Conkeldurr adopts a dusty rose and peach coloring. Neither of these color palettes are particularly attractive, and they do not differ significantly from the original colors.
Compared to the previous Community Day events in September, October's event is not as thrilling for shiny collectors. In September, Charmander, which evolves into the highly sought-after shiny Charizard, was featured during the Community Day Classic. Additionally, the shiny variants of Grubbin and its evolutions were also impressive. However, the shiny variant of Timburr, which will be available next month, is not very appealing to most Pokemon GO players.
Fortunately, October still offers other events that will likely captivate Pokemon GO players and provide more desirable shiny Pokemon than Timburr and its evolutions. Although there is limited information about the Harvest Festival and Halloween Events, October has historically been a fantastic month for fans of Ghost and Dark types, as these types usually take center stage during these events. Furthermore, there is a high possibility of new Gen 9 Pokemon like Greavard and Houndstone being introduced. Therefore, Pokemon GO players should not dismiss October entirely just because the Community Day lacks the excitement of previous months.
Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS.
