During the broadcast on Sunday, March 10, while Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo Bocelli performed, late actors like Treat Williams, Suzanne Somers, and Lance Reddick were notably absent from the tribute.

Williams, who passed away at 71 in a motorcycle accident in June 2023, was most famous for his role on the WB’s Everwood. However, he also had a successful film career with notable roles in movies like Hair (1979), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Dead Heat (1988), Miss Congeniality: Armed and Fabulous (2005), and Dolly Parton: Christmas on the Square (2020).

The segment failed to mention Suzanne Somers, who passed away in October 2023 at the age of 76 after her battle with breast cancer. Somers was best known for her roles on Three’s Company and Step by Step, as well as her appearances in movies such as Yesterday’s Hero (1979) and Nothing Personal (1980), where she portrayed Abigail Adams. She also made a cameo as herself in the 1994 film Serial Mom.

One upset viewer expressed their frustration by asking, "Why wasn't Suzanne Somers included in the Oscars memorial tonight? She was an iconic figure and we would like to know."

Reddick, who passed away in March 2023 at the age of 60 due to heart disease, was a well-known actor. He was famous for his roles in TV shows such as The Wire and Fringe, as well as for playing Charon, the concierge of the Continental Hotel, in the John Wick film series.

In addition to his work on television, Reddick also appeared in several movies including White House Down (2013), One Night in Miami … (2020), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).

In the In Memoriam segment of the Oscars, names like Reddick, Williams, Somers, and others were listed in fine print at the end, but they were not individually highlighted.

Some viewers expressed their disappointment with the presentation, with one person on X commenting, "Oscars In Memoriam was such a mess. How do you disrespect all these people at the end by just having a wall of names that barely stays up for 10 seconds?"

Some other names not mentioned in the event were Angus Cloud from Euphoria, Ron Cephas Jones from This Is Us, and renowned television producer Norman Lear.

The tribute segment highlighted the Bocellis performing a rendition of “Time to Say Goodbye” in memory of those who passed away in the previous year, such as Matthew Perry, Alan Arkin, Andre Braugher, Paul Reubens, and Tina Turner.
