North West is causing a stir on social media, much to the annoyance of her mother Kim Kardashian. On Wednesday, October 18, the mother-daughter pair engaged with viewers during a livestream on their joint TikTok account. In the background, an episode of the family's Hulu series, The Kardashians, played.
At one point, 10-year-old North admitted, “Guys, I have dyslexia. Do you even know what that is?”
Kim, 42, jokingly responded, “Northie, you are sure spilling the tea on here.”
After North inquired about the possibility of releasing an album, Kardashian expressed her disapproval and contemplated ending the livestream. She sternly informed her daughter, "I am going to terminate this live session immediately as you are divulging far too many details. It is my intentional choice to refrain from discussing the matters that you are currently undergoing."
Kevin Mazur/WireImage for ParkwoodKardashian's eldest daughter has gained recognition for her playful and imaginative TikTok videos, creating a point of disagreement between Kardashian and her former husband, Kanye West.
At 46 years old, West has expressed his disagreement with allowing North to engage with social media, while Kardashian firmly believes it serves as a valuable outlet for their daughter's creativity.
West and Kardashian have four children together - North, age 7, Saint, age 5, Chicago, age 4, and Psalm. In February 2021, Kardashian filed for divorce after almost seven years of marriage. They were able to reach a settlement in November 2022.
In an incident that occurred earlier that year, West expressed his disapproval on Instagram regarding Kardashian's decision to let North use TikTok.
"I'm seeking guidance regarding my daughter being put on TikTok without my consent, as this is my first divorce. What steps should I take?" the rapper expressed in a post from February 2022, which has since been deleted.
In reaction, Kardashian justified her decision through Instagram Stories.
Kim expressed that Kanye's continual attacks through interviews and social media are more emotionally distressing for her than any TikTok North may produce. As the primary provider and caretaker for their children, Kim strives to safeguard their daughter while enabling her to freely express her creativity on TikTok under adult supervision, as it brings her joy. In a June Time interview, Kim recounted hesitating about a TikTok featuring herself and North, eventually choosing to remove it.
Upon seeing the words, her immediate reaction was, "Oh, no, we must remove this." The video in question showcased the duo engaging in lip-syncing to Ice Spice's track, "Boy's a Liar, Pt. 2."
Kardashian further expressed, "I noticed online comments suggesting that Kanye was correct, and perhaps he was in that particular case. However, my daughter adores creating slime videos and conducting her own little hair tutorials, so I will always stand up for her creative endeavors."
In the same month, a source informed us that West continues to disagree with North's presence on social media. However, he acknowledges Kim's reasonable approach to the content she shares. The source further emphasized that Kanye shares a strong bond with North and although he trusts her completely, he understands that she is still young and may not always have the best judgment regarding what is fitting to be shared publicly.
