North West Teases Excitement for Her Upcoming Album 'Elementary School Dropout'

North West seems to be following in the artistic footsteps of her father, Kanye “Ye” West.

Fans of Ye, who is 46 years old, are familiar with two things about his music: it is always delayed in its release and he believes it is the best music ever created. Likewise, North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Ye and Kim Kardashian, is unsure when her first album, Elementary School Dropout, will be released to the public. However, when it finally does come out, she is confident that it will be amazing.

North provided a brief update on her debut album while chatting with Jazlyn “Jazzy” Guerra, the 13-year-old star of Jazzy’s World TV, at Rolling Loud on Thursday, March 14. Ye and Ty Dolla $ign headlined the opening night of the festival in Inglewood, CA, and North was there to perform and support her dad.

When asked about her album Elementary School Dropout, North confidently stated, “it’s gonna be great!” However, she wasn't sure about the release date, responding with, “Like…I don’t know.” As for potential collaborations with Ye, North shrugged and said, “Maybe! We don’t know yet!”

North revealed the title of her album, "Elementary School Dropout," during her dad's listening party for his new Vultures project on March 10. The name is a direct nod to Kanye's first album, "The College Dropout." Prior to this, Kanye had featured North on a track called "Talking / Once Again" from Vultures. This two-part song made its way to No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying North as one of the youngest artists to achieve a Top 40 hit.

North, the eldest child of Kanye and Kardashian, has been in the spotlight since birth. Kardashian, who is 43 years old, has three other children with her ex-husband: Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 4. In October 2023, North shared her aspirations with i-D Magazine, expressing her desire to become a basketball player and rapper.

"Well, when I was 7, I dreamed of becoming a boxer. But now, I have changed my mind. I plan to pursue art as a side passion," she shared. "By the time I'm around 13, I aim to earn money by walking dogs to afford art supplies, as everything is quite pricey around here. So, I will be a rapper, a basketball player, and create artwork to sell."

North also mentioned that her parents have successful fashion lines and she aspires to take over the businesses in the future. "I look forward to owning Yeezy and Skims one day," she expressed, "and becoming a business owner."
