Sonic Prime: Unveiling the Shocking Betrayal - What Drove Nine to Turn Against Sonic? Get ready for the explosive Season 3 on Netflix as we dig into the intriguing motives behind Nine's unexpected betrayal of our beloved blue hedgehog

Don't we have the right to be shocked that Nine betrayed Sonic? Find out more as Sonic Prime Season 3 races onto Netflix this week. Sonic Prime is the sixth animated series in the franchise, following the iconic video game speedster as he teams up with his trusty heroes to deal with a universe-shattering event caused by Dr. Eggman.

Justin Peniston and Duncan Rouleau, developed by the team at Man of Action, known for Ben 10 and Ultimate Spider-Man, the show has found significant success. Although it may not have reached the viewership of Squid Game or Stranger Things, it managed to accumulate over 82 million hours viewed in 2023.

This week marks the conclusion of Sonic Prime with its third and final set of episodes. The new episodes will continue the story directly after the events of the Season 2 finale and Nine's betrayal. Warning – Season 2 spoilers ahead!

Why did Nine betray Sonic?

In the finale of Season 2, Nine betrays Sonic due to his perception that Sonic disregards the impact of his choices and the emotions of others. Additionally, Sonic fails to recognize Nine as the true Tails and ignores his aspiration for a tranquil world crafted by his own design.

In Episode 8, Shadow and Sonic joined forces to safeguard the Paradox Prism as Nine attempted to repair it. Despite Shadow’s caution about Nine's trustworthiness, he assisted in their victory over the Chaos Council – but their collaboration ended there.

Nine exposed that the last Prism shard is concealed in the Grim, which he intends to turn into an "ideal world" – while Sonic aims to reconstruct Green Hill and reunite with his friends. Nine fears that this could lead to his disappearance from existence, as well as the erasure of New Yoke City and the other Shatterspaces.

"After all we've been through, I thought you'd understand my perspective, just like the real Tails would," Sonic tells him, but this only makes him more angry. "I am real! Just not your real friend," he responds.

Sonic hadn't considered the potential disastrous consequences of restoring Green Hill, so Nine vanishes into the Grim with the Prism. "Trust you? The only person I trust is myself," he declares.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, I am eagerly anticipating the release of Sonic Prime Season 3 on Netflix. The betrayal of Sonic by Nine in Season 2 left me shocked and intrigued, and I can't wait to discover the motives behind his actions. The exploration of Nine's perspective and his desire for a tranquil world of his own design adds depth to the character and raises interesting questions about the consequences of Sonic's choices.

The show's success, despite not reaching the viewership of other popular series like Squid Game or Stranger Things, is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Sonic franchise and the quality of the storytelling in Sonic Prime. The collaboration between Shadow and Sonic in Episode 8 was particularly exciting, and I am curious to see how their relationship develops in the upcoming season. Overall, I am excited about the potential of Sonic Prime Season 3 to deliver more thrilling adventures, emotional moments, and character development, and I look forward to immersing myself in the world of Sonic once again.
