Nicole Richie Shares Heartfelt Thoughts on Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's Newest Addition

Nicole Richie is a proud aunt to Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's children, including their newborn son Cardinal. Richie, 42, expressed her joy at the premiere of her new movie, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, calling the baby "the cutest! The absolute cutest," as she talked to E! News on Tuesday, April 2.

Diaz, who is 51, and Madden, who is 45, have a daughter named Raddix, who is 4 years old, and recently welcomed their son, Cardinal.

The couple shared the exciting news of their son's birth on Instagram, expressing their joy and gratitude. Diaz and Madden, who got married in 2015, wrote, "We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our son, Cardinal Madden️. He is amazing, and we couldn't be happier that he is finally here!"

We want to share that we have welcomed a beautiful baby into our family. We have decided not to post any pictures for the safety and privacy of our little one. Benji Madden is the twin brother of Joel Madden, who is married to Nicole Richie. Joel and Nicole, who have been married since 2010, have two children together - 16-year-old daughter Harlow and 14-year-old son Sparrow.

Both Cardinal and his cousin Sparrow have names inspired by birds, but it was not done on purpose.

Richie joked to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, "I didn’t ask, but I really don’t think they did [it on purpose]. I think it’s just a twin thing — who knows?"

Joel was surprised by the name choice, but mentioned that the whole family is very happy about it.

Richie and Joel are getting ready to become aunt and uncle once again as Sofia Richie Grainge, the actress' sister, is pregnant with her first child. Richie Grainge, who is 25 years old, shared earlier this year that she and her husband, Elliott Grainge, are expecting a daughter.

Richie is excited to see her younger sibling become a mom, but she is unsure if she and Joel will have more children.

"I'm not ready for another one today," she joked to E! News. "But who knows, I might change my mind next week. I might start feeling a bit left out, you never know."

Nicole and Joel's teenagers made their first appearance on the red carpet with their parents and grandparents. Nicole was adopted by Lionel Richie and his now ex-wife Brenda Harvey when she was 9 years old. While Harlow and Sparrow usually stay out of the spotlight, their famous parents have always enjoyed sharing their children's milestones.

During a November 2023 interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Joel expressed how fortunate they are with their kids. He mentioned, "We are blessed with our children. They are very easy to raise." Joel often tells his kids that they make it effortless to be a father because they are such good kids. He believes they take after their mom and describes them as great kids.
