Nicki Minaj questioned in the Netherlands for drug possession, police report

Rapper Nicki Minaj faced questioning by Dutch authorities for suspected drug possession during her visit.

Rapper Nicki Minaj was approached by Dutch authorities over the weekend for suspected drug possession, as reported by the police.

In a video shared on her Instagram Live and later circulated on social media, Minaj can be seen talking to the police at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport while recording with her phone.

In the video, Minaj talks about some pre-rolls that were discovered, and then she is guided out of her car and directed to enter a police van. When she questions why she is being asked to get into the van, an officer informs her that she is "under arrest," citing the reason as "carrying drugs." Minaj denies the accusations, stating, "I'm not carrying drugs."

Throughout the video, Minaj repeatedly requests the address of the police station and insists on having a lawyer present, while the police repeatedly ask her to stop recording.

Amsterdam authorities were contacted by CNN about Nicki Minaj, using her real name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the military police, revealed that a 41-year-old American woman was detained at Schiphol Airport for possessing "soft drugs." She is now being held in custody and questioned at the police station.

CNN has also reached out to Minaj's representatives for a response.

Minaj is currently touring the world for her Pink Friday 2 World Tour to promote her latest album, which came out earlier this year. Her website mentioned that she had a performance scheduled in Manchester, UK on Saturday night, May 25. Before that, she had a show in Amsterdam on Thursday night.

Editor's P/S:

The arrest of Nicki Minaj at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport for suspected drug possession has sparked a mix of reactions. Some fans have expressed concern for her well-being, while others have questioned the legality of her arrest. The video footage of Minaj's interaction with the police has also raised questions about the use of force and the rights of individuals during an arrest.

The incident highlights the ongoing debate surrounding drug laws and their enforcement. While the possession of small amounts of soft drugs is decriminalized in the Netherlands, it is still illegal to possess or use them in public. The arrest of Minaj suggests that the authorities may be taking a stricter approach to drug enforcement, even for celebrities. It is important to note that the charges against Minaj have not been proven and that she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
