If you feel like tossing things onto the stage, it's better to do so at a Drake concert rather than a Nicki Minaj show.

During her concert at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on April 20, Nicki Minaj, 41, was finishing up her performance when an unexpected object was thrown towards her. As she was singing "Starships," which was the second-to-last song of the night, a pink bracelet was hurled in her direction. Videos taken by fans captured the moment when the object was aimed directly at Minaj's face.

The rapper known as "FTCU" managed to quickly bat away an object that was headed towards her, using her hand to hit it away from the microphone she was holding. Afterward, she picked up the object and angrily threw it off the stage.

After the incident, things calmed down. Taking a brief pause, Minaj regained her composure and continued performing, confidently walking away from the audience while effortlessly twirling her microphone around her waist. Minaj then recovered from the interruption and successfully completed the song.

Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, with upcoming performances in Chicago on April 24 and 25, followed by shows in Minneapolis and Toronto. After that, she will take the tour to Europe in late May, wrapping up on July 14 with a final show in Liege, Belgium.

It's probably a good idea for fans not to offer any more tributes to Minaj after her furious reaction in Detroit. A similar incident happened to her longtime rival, Cardi B, in July 2023 while she was performing at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. Cardi, who is 31 years old, was on stage when a concertgoer threw a cup of an unidentified liquid at her.

This unexpected move clearly surprised Cardi, who reacted by angrily throwing her microphone at the fan. Despite the disruption, the backing track continued playing as security stepped in to retrieve the microphone. On stage, Cardi composed herself as the situation was resolved.

Ultimately, Cardi was not charged for throwing the microphone at the fan. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police informed CNN in August 2023 that the Clark County District Attorney's Office closed the case due to "insufficient evidence" and decided not to press charges.

In November, Taylor Swift expressed her disapproval of the practice. During a concert on her Eras tour, she said, "It really worries me when things are thrown onto the stage." She pointed out the potential danger, saying, "If something is on the stage, a dancer could trip over it." While appreciative of the gesture, she kindly asked her fans, "I appreciate the gifts, but please refrain from throwing them onto the stage."

While Drake, 37, was happy to show off his collection of bras thrown onstage during his 2023 It’s All A Blur Tour, most musicians prefer that fans keep their items to themselves.
