Nicki Minaj, aged 41, was arrested at an airport in Amsterdam after authorities reportedly found marijuana in her luggage. She was stopped outside the airport on Saturday, May 25, as she was about to board a flight to Manchester, England for her Pink Friday 2 Tour. The rapper posted about the incident on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), accusing it of being a deliberate attempt to disrupt her tour.
"They've been trying to stop me from coming to every show," Minaj shared in an Instagram post on Saturday morning. She explained that her bags were taken before she could see them and put on the plane, with claims that customs was now holding them. Minaj expressed frustration, stating that it seemed like people were being paid to sabotage her tour, resorting to illegal actions after other attempts failed.
In the video, Minaj is seen being informed that a police officer has ordered a thorough inspection of all luggage, instructing them to offload and search everything. This came after airport security had already conducted a quick check of her belongings before boarding.

Nicki Minaj mentioned that she believed someone was trying to profit from her by overcharging for her private jet. She explained on X that after firing her management team, she discovered they had been adding an extra 30-50K to the cost of her jet and keeping the money for themselves. She also fired a tour manager recently for the same reason, despite their attempts to make her late and pocket 40K.
In a video shared on Instagram Live by Minaj, law enforcement officers were seen trying to arrest her for allegedly carrying drugs. They asked her to get into a police vehicle, but she refused, insisting that she needed a lawyer present. Eventually, after being informed that she was under arrest, Minaj chose to enter the van voluntarily.
"I warned you all that they would try to delay me for about four to five hours just to make me late for my show," she said while still live streaming from inside the police vehicle.
According to Minaj, the pre-rolls were owned by her security team. She also stated that "this is how they sneak things into your luggage" in reference to the search, which she said caused a two-hour delay to her flight.
Minaj wrote on X Saturday morning that she was told to go 5 minutes away to the police precinct to talk about her security. She has not given any updates since then.
According to the United States Department of State, they provide information about traveling in and out of the Netherlands. Marijuana and hashish are considered "controlled substances" there. While it's okay to use them in Amsterdam's "coffee shops" popular with tourists, it's against the law to bring any controlled substance, like marijuana, into or out of the Netherlands.
