Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 10, with a new update on November 8 that seamlessly incorporates the game into Call of Duty's HQ launcher. However, those who wish to continue playing Modern Warfare 2 will now have to make a more thorough search.
As already mentioned, Call of Duty has moved away from having separate applications for each year's game. Instead, all current games are now consolidated under a single app called the Call Of Duty HQ. This extensive update has merged Modern Warfare 3 into the HQ launcher, resulting in a significant 135GB update size for console players.
This update reintroduces Call of Duty's cinematic intro, reminiscent of Marvel-style intros. Additionally, it prominently features Modern Warfare 3 in the game menu. The individual playlists for MW3's campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies are visible, but only the campaign is currently playable in early access.
Now, players who want to play Modern Warfare 2 will have to open the Call Of Duty HQ app and navigate to the bottom of the menus. This method of accessing Modern Warfare 2 is frustrating as it requires extra button presses and a forced delay while the application loads up the MW2 menus.
The Call of Duty blog has mentioned that the present update is a work-in-progress, stating that they are still working on improving the player experience for the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this week.
The absence of a Platinum trophy on PlayStation 5 for Modern Warfare 3 can probably be attributed to this unified launcher.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am thrilled about the newest game update for the Call of Duty HQ app. Merging MW3, Warzone, and MW2 into a single platform creates a seamless gaming experience that I am eager to explore. The massive 135GB update size for console players is a testament to the amount of content being added, and I can't wait to dive into the new Modern Warfare 3 campaign.
However, I am disappointed that Modern Warfare 2 has been relegated to the bottom of the menus in the Call of Duty HQ app. This makes it more difficult to access and play, and I feel like it's being overshadowed by the newer Modern Warfare 3. I understand that the developers are still working on improving the player experience, but I hope they can find a way to make Modern Warfare 2 more easily accessible in the future.
