The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to release on Netflix soon. Here's what we know about the series so far, including the release date, trailer, cast, plot, and more. The original animated series is hailed as one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed Western animated shows in history.
The show's anime-influenced drawing style, lovable characters, and blend of humor and serious themes have led to a significant impact, resulting in a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, and a poorly received live-action film remake. Now, more than fifteen years after its original release, another live-action remake is being developed by Netflix. Here's everything we currently know about it.

Netflix’s Avatar The Last Airbender live-action cast
Gordon Cormier, known for his role in The Stand, will portray the series protagonist and titular Avatar, Aang. This casting choice has been applauded for selecting an actor of the right age and of Asian descent, in contrast to the live-action movie.
Joining Cormier, Kiawentiio from Beans will take on the role of Katara, while Ian Ousley from 13 Reasons Why will bring Sokka to life as Aang’s travel companions and friends.
Prince Zuko, the antagonist in the series, will be played by Dallas Liu (PEN15), and his uncle General Iroh will be played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Kim’s Convenience).

Netflix’s Avatar The Last Airbender plot
According to the synopsis, long ago the four nations coexisted peacefully under the guidance of the Avatar, who had mastery over all four elements and maintained harmony. However, everything changed when the Fire Nation initiated an attack which resulted in the eradication of the Air Nomads. This marked the beginning of the Fire Nation's ambition to conquer the world. The series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, chronicles the journey of a young Air Nomad named Aang as he awakens to a world engulfed in conflict. Alongside his new companions Sokka and Katara, he embarks on a thrilling quest to fulfill his destiny as the next Avatar.
In this world, some individuals have the ability to manipulate one of the four traditional elements: water, earth, fire, or air. The Avatar is the only one who can manipulate all four elements, and is responsible for maintaining peace and balance in the world and nature.
After vanishing for an extended period, Aang reemerges as the Avatar in a world dominated by the Fire Nation. With the help of his new allies, Katara and Sokka, Aang embarks on a journey to master all four elements while being pursued by Zuko, the banished prince of the Fire Nation.
