Out there, you might be surprised to find someone who has the same name as your beloved pop star. Meet Taylor J. Swift, the Director of Government Capacity at POPVOX Foundation.
Swift, who is 30 years old, shared his experience of having the same name as the incredibly popular pop star, Taylor A. Swift. The singer recently launched her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. This was revealed in an essay published by Business Insider on April 20.
Taylor J. was 15 years old when he first learned about the singer. Initially, he didn't think much of it, believing she was just another singer with a couple of popular songs. However, he soon realized he was mistaken.
Admitting that he found the resemblance frustrating, especially as a teenager adjusting to a new school, Taylor J. shared, "I had a hairstyle similar to Justin Bieber, wore glasses, and was part of the debate team. It wasn't a pleasant experience."
Growing up, like most kids, I was trying to figure out who I wanted to be. Unfortunately, dealing with a couple of high school bullies and a choir teacher who liked to make jokes about my name didn't make things any easier, Taylor J. shared. When it was time to head off to college for a fresh start, I had two choices in front of me. I could either change my name or I could choose to embrace it and start anew. I decided to go with the latter option and embrace the name Taylor Swift instead of opting for an abbreviation like "TJ."
Even though my name tends to come up in every social interaction, even in my political career, I have made the conscious decision to fully embrace it. Taylor J. explained that he chooses to have fun with his name and sees it as a positive aspect of his life. Despite any challenges it may have presented, he genuinely likes his name and believes that it has ultimately been more beneficial than detrimental, even in his professional life.
