Nicolas Pepe, Arsenal's former record-breaking signing, has departed the club following the termination of his contract.
"A mutual agreement has been reached between Nicolas and the club to terminate his contract with immediate effect," stated the club.
The Gunners acquired the Ivory Coast international from Nice for a transfer fee of £72m in August 2019. Since then, he has made 112 appearances across various competitions, netting 27 goals. However, his most recent game for Mikel Arteta's team was in May 2022, contributing to a 5-1 victory against Everton. Subsequently, he spent the previous season on loan at Nice.
Pepe visited Istanbul over the weekend in anticipation of a possible transfer to Trabzonspor. In a video shared on the club's official Twitter account, Pepe can be seen on a private jet expressing his aspirations, saying, "My purpose in coming here is to win the championship and find success."
