Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, produced by Studio Trigger, received high praise for its animation, plot, and worldbuilding, fueling a resurgence for Cyberpunk 2077.

Remodeled sentence: The updates for Cyberpunk 2077 have incorporated Easter eggs and Edgerunner references, presenting players with equippable items and memorials as a means to honor the characters. In Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, players have the opportunity to encounter Stella Ramos, the sister of Sasha Yakovleva, thereby establishing a connecting link between the game and Edgerunners.

There are numerous connections between last year's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. One such connection is the surprise appearance of Stella Ramos, who happens to be the sister of Sasha Yakovleva. Created by the esteemed anime studio Studio Trigger in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, Edgerunners is set before the events of Cyberpunk 2077 and revolves around the tragic tale of David Martinez, a young edgerunner hoping to establish a reputation for himself on the dangerous streets of Night City. The stylish animation, captivating storyline, and intricate worldbuilding of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners received almost universal acclaim, playing a significant role in the renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077 after its notorious launch in 2020.

Subsequent updates to Cyberpunk 2077 have incorporated Easter eggs and other references to Edgerunners. The first patch, released alongside the show's launch on Netflix last September, provided players with access to David's iconic jacket, Rebecca's trademark shotgun, and a drink named in honor of the latter character. Furthermore, the substantial 2.0 update in September of this year introduced additional references to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, including various memorials that players can visit to pay tribute to David and his crew. True to form, the subsequent Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC featured even more allusions to Edgerunners, granting players the opportunity to explore several notable locations from the show.

In the main storyline of Phantom Liberty, players have the opportunity to meet an NPC who has a strong connection to the anime. During one of the side quests, V encounters Stella Ramos, a dark-haired NCPD officer. Together, they hide from Dodger, a drug lord, and his gang near the entrance of Dogtown, leaning back in a car. Stella's role is more significant than it initially appears, as she is actually the older sister of Sasha Yakovleva, a former member of Maine's netrunner crew before David Martinez joined them.

While Sasha didn't make an appearance in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, she was prominently featured in a music video released to promote the show. The video showcased Sasha embarking on a solo mission to infiltrate the infamous Arasaka Corporation in Cyberpunk 2077, but unfortunately, she meets her demise. Lucy, one of the main protagonists in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, takes Sasha's place and becomes David's romantic interest.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account recently confirmed Stella's relationship with Sasha through artwork by Kuvshinov_iyla. This unexpected connection to Edgerunners in Phantom Liberty further solidifies the link between both works within the expansive Cyberpunk universe. This connection is set to continue in CDPR's upcoming Project Orion. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty can be played on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
