Spider-Man 2 players may encounter a bug that turns Miles Morales into a tiny white cube, affecting animations and visibility.
The bug appears to occur randomly when changing suits with Miles. However, restarting the game can temporarily resolve the issue until a patch is made available. Meanwhile, Insomniac highly recommends downloading the Day One Update to enhance your gaming experience.
Spider-Man 2 introduces a new bug that turns Miles Morales into a small white cube, causing some awkward moments as he swings and fights enemies in New York. Despite the anticipation from trailers and pre-launch hype, Insomniac has finally released the highly anticipated Spider-Man 2, allowing players to explore a larger open world than before. Apart from Manhattan and Harlem, the game now includes additional boroughs such as Queens and Brooklyn.
With more space to explore, Insomniac has ensured that players have plenty of activities to engage in, including the return of side quests and other tasks like Photo opportunities. While Fast Travel remains an option in Spider-Man 2, the game offers various alternative methods for traversing the map. These include wind tunnels that, when combined with built-in gliders on the suits, enable players to swiftly move above the city streets. However, due to the immense size of the world created by Insomniac, the occasional bug or issue may arise.
While playing Spider-Man 2, a bug was triggered when switching suits with Miles Morales. This bug transformed the character into a small white square. Adding to the peculiarity, the square still maintained Miles' voice lines and had access to the full range of abilities, including web swinging around New York and engaging in combat during a side mission involving rescuing a person from enemies. What further intensified the strange occurrence was that, once the thugs were defeated by the white cube, the NPC civilian had to be taken to a nearby ambulance. Consequently, the carry animation played out as it would with a regular character model, but appeared to hover above the white cube.
Some commenters have reported encountering a similar issue to the one seen in Spider-Man 2 when changing suits. Another player experienced a different issue where only a floating head was visible on the home screen, with the body completely invisible. A user named bogdanbarbu6596 mentioned that restarting the game completely fixed the bug, at least until Insomniac can address it with a future patch. While the bug itself may not completely ruin the gameplay, it does make it impossible to see Miles' current animations and positioning.
While this suit glitch may persist for a little while longer, Insomniac is urging all Spider-Man 2 players to download the Day One Update. For those who own the physical edition, the game can still be played from start to finish without the update, but it is highly recommended as it adds an extra layer of polish, accessibility options, and other general refinements that Insomniac believes will enhance the overall experience.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is available now on PS5.
