Recent leaks indicate that a potential collaboration between Fortnite and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on the horizon. Throughout its successful run, Epic's online battle royale shooter has featured various guest characters from popular video games, movies, and TV shows as playable skins. Recent noteworthy crossovers include WWE superstars Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair, as well as Star Wars' Ahsoka Tano, all introduced in Chapter 4.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has also been a part of numerous crossovers, joining forces with various characters in comics, animated films, and video games. Notably, Street Fighter 6 recently introduced playable skins inspired by the Turtles, although some players expressed dissatisfaction with the high cost of these alternate costumes. Additionally, Fall Guys unveiled their own TMNT alternate skins for a limited time to coincide with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Just as this collaboration is about to expire, a new one could soon begin according to two prominent Fortnite leakers. Twitter user Sam recently disclosed the existence of a hidden file called "FungusNinja," which can be decoded as "MutantNinja," possibly hinting at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Sam acknowledges that most of these covert file names are insignificant, but they do draw attention to the fact that Fortnite's Anakin Skywalker skin was preceded by a file aptly named "PlotTwist."
Moreover, Sam highlights that a sewer manhole cover in Slappy Shores was emitting peculiar sounds before an in-game Fortnite pizza shop with an arcade machine was added nearby. There is also an upcoming augmentation named "Ninja Training," and the recently introduced shop background bears a striking resemblance to the ooze that famously transformed the Turtles into the anthropomorphic heroes they are today. Another Fortnite leaker, iFireMonkey, corroborates some of Sam's information, particularly that the alleged "FungusNinja" file is only 7 MB.
Fortnite often collaborates with popular franchises during significant events, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been gaining renewed popularity in the gaming world. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, which received a significant DLC update last week, has contributed to this resurgence. Furthermore, THQ Nordic has announced an upcoming action title called TMNT: The Last Ronin based on the IDW-published comic storyline.
The wise-cracking team of Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello have been featured as special guest character skins in games like Injustice 2, Street Fighter 6, and Fall Guys. If recent leaks are accurate, it is possible that they may soon make an appearance in Fortnite as well. Although there has been no official confirmation from Epic Games, rumors suggest that TMNT parent company Paramount signed an agreement with Epic to bring its properties to Fortnite last year.
